I mistakenly believed that if I said "gear" instead of "equipment," I wouldn't get a response like this.

What is the gist of this league of shadows angle according to the comics?

I agree I was hoping it would take place a few years after TDK but was hoping more like 10-15 but that would require heavy make up for Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, etc.

8 years after the Joker, that doesn't make much sense but I'll have to wait and see why Nolan did it.

I don't see how Bane really fits into the Criminal Leader type like the Joker, but Riddler fits into the scheme as a top notch criminal so I think their will be someone else on top.

I still have doubts.

Riddler is too similar to the Joker. Bane is going to be a 'brutal' terrorist with genius tactics from what I've gathered

Does Nolan really care about the story behind the comics anymore? Riddler and Joker aren't very similar but they can be compared, but as I said earlier, I'll wait and see how it looks on the day it is released.

Probably because you're basing your view on Bane off the horrible interpretation in B&R which is absolutely nothing like who he is.

Bane is more than just muscle. He's incredibly intelligent and matches Bruce/Batman physically and mentally. He really is a villain unlike any other in the rogues gallery.

I've had my doubts about this as things have come out, but I like this most recent info. Let's face it guys...the chances that this movie is even close to being as good as TDK are slim to none. That was the greatest comic book movie and one of the greatest movies of all time...big shoes to fill. I'm not getting my hopes that high, but I am hoping TDKR is at least as good as Batman Begins. With Nolan at the helm, I'll wait till I see it to pass judgment. I trust him to make an excellent film

I don't know...but my money is on Batman/Wayne using Ra's Regeneration Pool to heal himself after Bane whips his arse/breaks his back.

I actually thought Begins was the better of the two.

TDK is awesome no doubt, but Iron Man one was really good. And this weekend I just saw X-Men: First Class, and that shite was awesome too.

It's all but confirmed that Marion Collard (sp?) is portraying her.

Scott... You just don't get it do ya? You don't. We don't need someone like the Joker. We need someone completely different, not a cheap knockoff. Plus Riddler has never really been a mastermind behind other criminals. He's always been just a mere annoying nuissance to Batman than an actual threat.

In the comics, Riddler is a mere nuissance to Batman. His plans aren't overly threatening and merely wants to be known as the most intelligent man in Gotham. Joker does Riddler's tricks on a much larger and more threatening scale. In order to make the Riddler a main antagonist, you'd have to make his tactics similar to the Joker. Therefore he should be a cameo tops like Scarecrow was in TDK.

OML,buddy, pal, I love ya. You're on team archer, we have similar taste. IMO, Nolan is wrong about Riddle.

He's a challenge for "The World's Greatest Detective" and not "The Dark Knight" if you will. I love these movies, but they have not showcased Bruce's intellect as much as his burning desire to avenge his parents and his indomniable will. Now that might change in the next film, but I doubt it. Bane is a better fit in this film for the reasons that we all agree on, having the Riddler
now makes less sense. As far as Riddlers "mastermind" ability go read Hush, he runs everyone including Joker.

You're right n this and can't believe I forgot about it. But I stand by the fact that 90% of the time The Riddler is a mere nuissance for Batman. He greatly challenges Batman's mind, but isn't threatening enough to physically defeat Batman. Bane matches him in strength and intellect making him a good and obvious choice.

The Riddler wouldn't have been a viable villain after the Joker. Bane is much more imposing and much more threatening. Plus he's just as every bit as intelligent as Edward Nigma.
