D23: 'Captain America' Footage

Access Hollywood was on the scene at the fan-filled panel. Here is our off-the-cuff reaction to the footage that had the crowd going full-on Hulk with excitement:
- The trailer begins with epic battle with Captain American and Falcon taking on Crossbones
- There were appearances by Iron Man, Black Widow, Scarlett Witch, The Vision, Hawkeye and Ant-Man
- The Winter Solider (Cap's onetime best friend Bucky Barnes) appears to have been released from his Hydra brainwashing and is now one of the good guys fighting alongside Cap -- we like!
- It gets contentious with Iron Man and Cap, with Iron Man telling him, "Sometimes, I want to punch you in your perfect teeth!" This is only the start of the their battle!
- Also, there was a first look at Black Panther in action, and he looks beyond cool in his costume
-- Paul Rudd as Ant-Man had the crowd LOL-ing
- Also, a possible major battle between Black Widow and Hawkeye is shown -- are these longtime friends now foes?

How can an audience who's really into these kind of things cheer and holler during a trailer?
I would be totally transfixed and not want to miss anything.
They covered up much of the sound.

starting to doubt that's the real trailer I linked

the trailer in the OP didn't really seem like how they described it. plus I didn't see Rudd playing antman
quote:
The Civil War footage started in Africa, with Falcon, Captain America and Black Widow tracking a vehicle, thanks to a remote Falcon drone deployed by Mackie's character. That vehicle, it turned out, was being driven by Hydra soldiers and housed big bad guy Crossbones, Frank Grillo's character from The Winter Soldier. A big brawl between Cap and Crossbones ensued, with Falcon and Black Widow joining in on the (beautifully choreographed) action.
More footage that played a lot like a trailer followed, showing Cap's Avengers allies — and sometime rivals — Iron Man, Hawkeye and Scarlet Witch. We saw Cap confronting his onetime friend Bucky, aka The Winter Soldier, who exchanged words with Cap about his past, then appeared to be cooperating in a later shot. The trailer also gave us our first glimpse of Black Panther, who flexed out metal claws from his fingertips. The footage hinted at the Avengers splintering into different groups, with Tony Stark and Steve Rogers trading barbs, and Hawkeye and Black Widow fighting, with Barton questioning Natasha if they were still friends.
William Hurt returned as General Thunderbolt Ross, reprising his role from Marvel's The Incredible Hulk. Ross talks about the country owing Captain America a debt, but that he's also seen by some as a vigilante.
The highlight of the footage was Falcon meeting up with Cap and Scarlet Witch, and introducing him to Paul Rudd's Ant-Man. Rudd played the starstruck, low-level superhero perfectly, shaking Steve Rogers' hand for an uncomfortably long time and marveling at Captain America's size and physique. He fawned, turning to Scarlet Witch and saying, "I know you. You're great too," and saying to the Avengers leader, "You know a lot of super people, so thinks for thanking of me." Rudd was used perfectly as a relatable everyman in the scene, even better than he'd been portrayed in Ant-Man.
The footage did not, however, offer a peek at Spider-Man, who's slated to make an appearance in Civil War.

Is Capt. America kinda lame?

I think he is. He has to have a strong supporting cast, I find him to be rather bland. It's laughable that this film is actually being called Capt America. We all know it's actually Avengers 2.5

Dude probably didn't know spiderman had a new suit. Realize these writers aren't comic fans.

Didn't seem that impressive to me? Looked almost fake and all the losers yelling their asses off didn't help. But it still doesn't stop my excitement for this one. This could be the best one if done right or the worst one. I don't think there will be a middle ground

Hard to tell, the guy filming it must've also been the guy that's shot any footage I've ever seen of Bigfoot.
