So epic in scope and tension. I can remember reading it when it came out...literally could not wait for each issue. I loved Marvels as well for the art, but the writing in Kingdome Come married so well with the art that it was truly astounding.

A week out from release, Winter Soldier was at 40-3 for a score of 93%.

Civil War is on an even better start, and it's more stable, bolstered by an extra 18 positive reviews and shedding 2 rotten reviews.

As a stats nerd, I'm curious if it will beat the 94% tomatometer of The Dark Knight and Iron Man.

I think it will be close 93 to 95, although one thing that could impact later reviews are unrealistically high expectations from the early buzz.

Why isn't this movie out yet? I still have over a week to wait.

I saw the commercial during the draft and I want to know who's coffin Cap was carrying.

You really don't see the glaring contradiction in these two statements?

Marvel's all about style, but DC doesn't hire their director to tell a story only to make it look great? Seriously?

....

Snyder isn't writing the stories for DC's movies. He was brought on to give them great imagery. To make an image stick with you, that's his part. Marvel's style that I'm referring to is how they almost always build around humor and two action setpieces in their movies. That's their style. No long term consequences, take no chances, and wrap it all up with a pretty little bow at the end. Now, I will say that the two Cap movies have not fallen victim to this formula and that's part of why they were both so great (moreso TWS).

I think this is a good point. I find it amusing that they called it Captain America, when in reality, it's probably just another Avengers film.

It really is Avengers 3 Take out Hulk, Thor, and Quicksilver and put in Black Panther, Antman, and Spiderman.

They just made a movie with the two of the three biggest comic book heroes in the same movie for the first time, and they aren't even going to break a billion dollars.

Your point? There have been dozens of comic book movies over the last 50 years and only 4 have hit a billion. Even if this movie doesn't earn another cent at the box office, it still has turned a profit at the box office for them. Then you have to factor in the revenue from marketing partners which went well over $100 million for this movie, tv rights, and home sales too. Then you have the merchandising.

Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman are going to print money and Justice League will easily hit a billion - which is no small feat since only 2 movies released in November have ever hit that number.

I remember thinking how in the hell are they going to translate Thor and Cap to the big screen? I thought it would be just entirely too goofy looking, but damn... what they've done, especially with Cap is nothing short of amazing.

Well to be fair, they still don't know what the hell to do with Thor. I was so excited when they brought Alan Taylor, and then we get that Scooby Doo climax.

This flick may finish with the highest rating for a "super hero movie" ever.

You got to look at the average score too. Last I checked, The Dark Knight was in the 8.5 out of 10 range.

Wow. I'm not sure I've ever seen one person post 5 back to back posts with no replies in between. You sure you're not really working for Marvel and trying to keep this post at the top of the page so the high rating gets noticed as much as possible?

Just to clarify, I'm only saying that Justice League will hit a billion, not the other two.

Kevin Smith said it was the greatest comic book movie he's ever seen. Take that for what it's worth

New rotten reviews from:

A man who gave Room, Zootopia, and Deadpool rotten scores but gave a fresh rating to Good Dinosaur.

A woman who gave Spotlight, The Revenant, Birdman, and The Imitation Game rotten reviews, as well as being a negative critic overall.

The other guy gave The Martian and Deadpool Rotten reviews but recently gave The Boss a fresh score
