Did the awesomeness of the movie pertain to leaving you with the talked about "airport scene"? Or did the whole movie deliver, and on top it had a spectacular finish?

The whole movie, aside from perhaps the very beginning, had good pacing and had the "darker areas" punctuated by great comic relief and character-character interactions.

Every one in the movie had something to do and had some cool screen time.

In the end, it came down to a personal story from which neither of the 2 main characters could really yield.

Great film, will be seeing it again (and possibly again) in the theaters. There's a lot to process in it.

It was an unnamed third Captain America film.

Not just an unnamed Disney Project. Warner Bros knew damn well what film it was.

Here's the timeline. Warner was hoping that Marvel would move to another date or put a lesser film in that date. No one knew that it was going to be a Captain America movie.

August 2013: Warner announces July 2015 date for Batman V Superman
Jan. 2014: Warner announces move from July 2015 release date to May 6, 2016 release date
March 2014: Marvel reveals that their May 6th, 2016 date will be used by Captain America 3
August 2014: Warner announces move from May 6 to March 25, 2016
Oct. 2014: Marvel announces Captain America: Civil War

I don't want to venture into the SPOILER thread, but I do have a question: do we find out who is playing Captain Marvel? Is Carol Danvers in the movie?

This is a bit surprising....damn you Snyder

Captain America: Civil War looks set to have a massive opening weekend in North America, but it appears as if overwhelmingly positive reviews weren't quite enough to help the Marvel movie top the anticipation moviegoers had to see the first big screen meeting between the Caped Crusader and Man of Steel in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. That earned $27.7 million during Thursday evening showings, whereas Captain America: Civil War fell slightly short with a still amazing $25 million haul.

Well BvS opened on Good Friday and Spring Break time so there were a lot of students out for school and people off of work.

This was not going to top the early dollars for BvS. That movie had the two biggest icons of comic book lore, and two characters that almost everyone on the planet knows. The Marvel universe is already well established. It will put up better numbers in the long run, but I never thought it had a chance to match the early numbers for BvS.

I doubt we get anything from her until Infinity War Part 1.

Oh I agree. BvS should've made 1.5 billion. Snyder should be ashamed that it won't even hit 900 mil

BVS followed this by having the largest dropoff in cinema history. Civil war will blow this out of the water

Word of mouth alone is going to propel this for a couple of weeks -- not counting the repeat viewings for folks that really liked it.

My own anectdotal knowledge is that early watchers of BvS told folks to stay away, whereas early watchers of Civil War are "go see this now".

I am positive for BvS and actually saw it twice.

CW is infinitely better, and will get multiple repeat viewings.

I said in another thread it will hit at least $1.5 billion.

As I've mentioned to others.

I'm neither a "marvel guy" or a "dc guy", I just want both studios associated with the various properties to put out good films.

As a consumer/quasi-comics-nerd, I win when both are doing well.

Marvel has done a fantastic job setting up their universe, and major props to Favreau, Whedon, and the Russo's and a shite ton of writers.

DC has great properties, but really need someone with a "master vision" for their cinematic universe... *cough* Bruce Timm etc.
