One was more of a Teen Sex Comedy while the other was more of a Dramedy.

I disagree with Ace. Fast Times is clearly in the same vein as Hollywood Knights and The Last American Virgin.

Meatballs is nowhere near as crude as Animal House or Porky's so it fits in a different category.

Back to the OP, I probably enjoy rewatching Fast Times more but both were solid movies.

Breakfast Club

Always thought FTaRH was overrated (yes, Phoebe was hot). When it came out, I thought it was moderately funny. Never saw it attaining "classic" status.

I never understood the appeal of Breakfast Club. It's so melodramatic that it's laughable to me.

These movies are different IMO.

One seemed just like a straight up comedy. The other felt like a drama with some comedy thrown in there.

The janitor was actually my favorite character in The Breakfast Club.

I believe he was in Weird Science as one of the guys in the bar and also the groom to molly's sister in 16 candles.

RIP John Hughes. You were the 80s

Spicoli>>>>>>>>>>>>>Bender

The pizza being ordered during the middle of class is just awesome. I wish I would have done that.

I would rank them 1 and 1a.

Both were spot on for their time and you can see the transition of 80's music and style through these two films. I enjoy FT more.. a lot more LOL moments. It's a stopdown when I come across it on cable.

Fast Times mainly b/c that scene in BC where they smoke pot and dance is dumb as hell. Especially when Emilio screams and the glass shatters.
