Apocalypse Now is my favorite war movie
The Sandlot or Raging Bull, although Bull had a lot less to do with sports than other sports movies..

The Deer Hunter I still remember watching this film for the first time many moons ago and it giving me chills. One of the best movies ever made in my opinion.
