The Spy Who Loved me, For Your Eyes Only, and IMO, Octopussy, are better thana few of the ones you named.

Niven

Actually, by far the closest big name actor to ever approach anything like the background of James Bond - Niven was a commando in WWII.

My top 4:

From Russia With Love

Casino Royale (remake)

Licence To Kill -- until the CR remake this was the closest the films had come to the Bond of Ian Fleming's novels

On Her Majesty's Secret Service
Outstanding list. These are my top 4. From Russia with Love and Licence to Kill are 1 and 1A for me.

And I'll add a #5--The Spy Who Loved Me. Best of the Moore films IMO and had the absolute coolest frickin villain lair in Bond history and the ridiculously gorgeous Anya Amasova, probably the most underrated Bond girl in history.

ETA: Oh yeah. And this:

Goldeneye was my favorite because the opening scene at the gas facility place where bond uses that Ak-74 to shoot the place up, and then the scene with big ball jones and xenia is hilarious.

And finally, the fist fight scene between bond and 006 near the end was one of the best fight scenes in all movies. Because its realistic IMO. I've seen all the bond films by the way

My top 4 are Live and Let Die, Goldeneye, Thunderball, and Goldfinger. I enjoy The Man With The Golden Gun, and I like the Daniel Craig movies. Guilty pleasure is Moonraker.

I think Living Daylights is the most underrated Bond flick.

Both of the Dalton Bond films are extremely underrated. I don't know why or how Timothy Dalton ever got such a bad reputation in regards to playing Bond, but after the Roger Moore era he was a breath of fresh air. Of the seven Bond films Moore did, only The Spy Who Loved Me and For Your Eyes Only measure up. The rest range from average to mediocre.

Dalton suffered because he was the transition of Bond into more of an action hero instead of spy. The fans were not yet ready to embrace that when he came along (especially after been fed a steady diet of Moore camp). By the time Brosnan took the reins, they were.

for the love of god, why do people keep saying live and let die? That was my favorite when I was 12. It's campy and dated.

I think people just like it because of the song. For all of its faults, though, it's still one of the better Roger Moore movies....but that's not really saying much:

Ranking the Roger Moore films

1. For Your Eyes Only (1981)
2. The Spy Who Loved Me (1977)
3. Live and Let Die (1973)
4. The Man with the Golden Gun (1974)
5. Octopussy (1983)
6. Moonraker (1979)
7. A View to a Kill (1985)

Some people will keep in mind the time that a movie was filmed and released when judging a film. If Dr. No was released today it would appear to be amateurish. But in the 60's it launched an entire genre. I'm not going to dismiss it just because it doesn't have the special effects or realistic dialogue of a modern Bond film.
