The new NBCUniversal streaming service that the company said Tuesday would be called Peacock will launch in April 2020 with original content that includes series reboots from the NBCU library among its fare. That list includes a sci-fi surprise: a new Battlestar Galactica, billed as an original series from Mr. Robot and Homecoming executive producer Sam Esmail.
...Esmail is a huge fan of BG and told NBCU it was high on a list of projects he wanted to tackle under his deal. Esmail had been in touch with Moore, who blessed the idea, because of Esmail’s passion for Moore’s version of the show.

So it'll be a reboot of the reboot? Interesting to see where he can take it. BSG was so good for awhile, but I always thought it kind of fell apart a bit towards the end.

The frick?
An alternate kind of timeline I can see. But a reboot?
Sorry. You can't beat the casting, the scoring, and the intensity of the Edward James Olmos led reboot. First 2.5-3 seasons are about as perfect as you can get.

I liked the original and the reboot, but I have one minor gripe.
I don’t like the alien/robot disguised as a human trope in pretty much anything. That was a centerpiece of the reboot and I just did not like it. If they do launch another BSG, just give us more straight-up Cylons, please.

Oh yes please. Those original cylons were the and their shot was just as bad as the stormtroopers

BSG could probably use a better ending, but man, those first few seasons were brilliant.

That made me laugh way more than it should have.

It seems a little too soon for a “reboot” of BSG. The writing of the Ronald D Moore series will never be replicated.

Yep.
It was one of the best shows ever during it's strong seasons. Characters and story lines were impeccable. Dialogue and acting were amazing.
But, just like Lost, Alias, and Game of Thrones, the ending was a huge disappointment.
Lost, BSG, and GOT had incredible plots, full of mysterious twists and turns, with hints of secrets to be revealed and epic conclusions that would wrap up all those plot lines, fill all those plot holes. Make the whole, monstrous mosaic all make sense!
Except the writers had no fricking clue what the ending was supposed to be, and how they were going to get there when they wrote all those wild crazy plot twists. They shot for the cheap shock and the unpredictable story line, never really knowing how it would all tie back together.
So they pulled some basic bullshite out their asses, wrapped it in sentimentality and tear jerking schlock, and tugged our heart strings with soft lighting, fuzzy close ups filtered to make the characters glisten.
And some of us bought it and thought "wow, what an ending!"
Then, after a few days, we remembered all those unanswered questions, all those plot twists that weren't resolved, all those logic loops that contradicted themselves or were just ignored by the writers.
And we realized we'd been played.
Those writers didn't have some "grand plan". Or if they did, they had strayed so far from it that there was no going back.

they blew it literally at the very end...right up until the reveal that the colonials were from earth's past.

Good luck. I'm not paying for 25 different streaming services.
In the end, cable will be reinvented through bundling of streaming services. It will be the exact same shite we had before. It's the only natural progression from what we're seeing now with the emergence of so many new streaming services.

It better be fricking epic if it's hoping to follow in the previous reboot's shoes.

Organic cloned slaves who, due to their bio-engineering, figure how to transfer consciousness upon death to a waiting clone body, is a formidable foe to mortal humans.
Cylon and blade-runner replicants are basically interchangeable.
Resurrection Part 2 might be the greatest hour of Sci-Fi TV ever produced.
Sharon and Adama's pre-attack meeting was riveting.

While I thought the reboot was fine, I was a early teen when the original BSG came out and was sad to see it die an early death. I don't really count "Galactica 1980" in the canon.
I would love to see a "back to roots" look based on the first series with Starbuck and Boomer being guys again.
BTW: I had a ridiculous crush on Jane Seymour when she was on BSG...never really shook it..LOL
