It fun tv. After a while it seems like the same episodes.

Being in the industry i try to watch and pick up pointers when I can.

I'll say it seems hard not to improve business 6 weeks after a huge remodel, and addition of taps and food and everything he does for folks.

Agreed, although the Canyon Inn one I just watched...the a-hole owner changed the name back and it looks like they lost a lot of customers in the 2 months later montage at the end. Dude was a dick.
This is the episode where Taffer's wife went in to do recon. First time I have seen her. Damn. Who is this woman? Who's got pics?

I'm a big fan of the show. Taffer's the real deal.
When he went to T.J. Quills in NOLA, that was a good one too.

That's what I'm hoping to see. A bar that I'm familiar with.

As mentioned before, Taffer is "the real deal" because he sinks nothing short of major money into the failing places. Adds new sound systems, cool bar themes, table taps, food, and "delux" drink recipes that demand a higher price.

How hard is that?

I like the show but after a while, it does feel really repetitive. Bar that was once popular sucks. Taffert comes in. Owner is either clueless or an a-hole. Taffert lays down the law. Owner either gives in or fights back. The bar fails the stress test. An employee or two is fired or quits. Things might not be able to get fixed in time for the relaunch. Taffert sinks a bunch of money into the bar. After advertising a huge grand opening, the place is packed, everything is running smoothly and everyone is happy.

Again, its a cool show, but sometimes you can feel when it is staged. The worst is when Taffert basically rebrands/redesigns the bar to the point where its a completely new establishment. That seems like a cop-out to me.

Or smart marketing because the business is failing and shows no signs of survival

My favorite episodes in no particular order was the gay bar in Vegas, the bar with really drunk owners (horse shits on the floor), or the one where the general manager was a super spazz and wouldn't stop saying "all in".

The Vegas gay bar one was crazy. They put a bunch of dough in the place, the owner takes one look and says "I hate it" and walks out. He shut the joint down three days later.
I loved the North Carolina one with the spazz g.m. He was flying on cocaine. That was the place where they were putting well brand booze in premium bottles.

I love it, but when you watch too many, it gets kinda stale. Same format every time.

i liked the show until they came to Austin. Just about everything about both bars they did here was totally staged. Made it hard for me to keep watching.

I've watched too much I think and am losing my interest. John Taffer is still at the top of my list of "people you'd like to have a beer with".

So this is like the bar version of Robert Irvine's show where he renovates a restaurant? I've never seen an episode, but I'll have to catch it.

Another one I like is Mystery Diners. It is a little cheesy, and parts obviously staged or edited to look good for TV, but there have been a few entertaining episodes. One guy was the owners friend and comes in and gets blitzed on beer that the owner never makes him pay for, hits on the owners girl (who is a bartender) and makes a big scene in the place.
