Whats hard to understand?

When Bane was fighting Batman the first time. His dialogue was as if it was his story. How he was born and raised in the dark and the shadows were his ally. In the end Bane was ,as you said, the prisoner who helped Talia escape. So that story was null and void.

Of course. He couldn't let on that Thalia was actually who she ended up being or even that there was another person out there behind the plan. Had to keep up the charade.

Dude... THAT's who he sounded like. I kept thinking to myself that it reminded me of someone.

Or just not say anything at all. I get what your are saying though. It just seems like there wasn't a very smooth transition.

The Joker is probably my favorite movie villain. The second is probably the Emperor from Gladiator.

Gotta say, I loved Bane's portrayal. There was only one flaw. Bane's from the Carribean, he's not British, and most CERTAINLY shouldn't speak like a brit.

The story didn't become null and void. Did you ever stop to think that he could have been born in that prison too? Just because he wasn't the one who escaped doesn't mean his story is discredited. Plus I feel as if a lot of what Bane said in that little line was metaphorical anyway.

Of course I thought of that. I just didn't like it. Maybe I'm letting the comics get in the way of the movie. Bane just felt pushed aside at the end.

I actually came out of Dark Knight Rises more impressed with Bane than I was with the Joker after Dark Knight.

Me either. It's probably why I liked him slightly more than the Joker.

I hated his voice. He was so much louder than everyone else. It felt like all his lines were bad voiceovers to me.

I thought he sounded like a gay darth vader.

Joker gets the nod. Maybe Bane would've gotten the edge had his death been more dramatic. Lousy finish for the ultimate bad arse.

I liked Bane's voice ok although it could have been tweaked to be a tad less Connery ish. Bane's character just wasn't on par with the Joker. Bane was clearly brilliant and physically imposing but his motives were extremely unclear. We really had little idea what made him tick. Ledger's nihilistic version of the joker was so great because you knew him better, which is actually kind of ironic because Bane's history was fairly well told and the history of the joker wasn't told at all.

How exactly is that the fault of the character?

Agreed. I'm cool with the way he went out, but they could have shown something like his smoldering carcass or his mask or something, it was definitely a "pg 13" death

Not if you had seen Batman Begins. The League of Shadows is a vigilante organization that goes to extreme measures to remove decadence, crime, and corruption from areas where they think it has become too great to control. Bane's stated goal was to fulfill the destiny of Ra's al Ghul. Ra's al Ghul's stated goal in Batman Begins was the destruction of Gotham.

I got chills when he said the line "I'm fulfilling Ra's al Ghul's destiny"

Man I love me some Bane.
