According to this interview, the showrunners are saying that whoever is in the grave will stay there:

Again, I think Felicity is to obvious of a choice. I don't think it'll be Diggle because they would basically be crapping on his character if Darhk kills Diggle before avenging the death of his brother. Lance is real a possibility for the simple fact that he'll have to pay for getting in bed with Darhk.
quote:
RIP, WHOEVER YOU ARE | Somebody is definitely dead — “It’s not a fake-out,” Guggenheim confirms, while keeping mum on whether the producers know who is in that cemetery plot — and he or she will stay that way, despite the existence of Nanda Parbat’s magical hot tub. “We want to bring stakes back to the show, and so, we’ll be finding a way to handle the Lazarus Pit… in a new, inventive way that I can’t reveal,” Mericle shares. “But it’ll be cool.” Adds Guggenheim: “It’ll feel organic and very earned. It’s actually very elegant.”

Pretty solid opening episode.
While I want it to be Felicity I don't see it. My money is on Thea or Lance.
Also do they plan to bring back Ray Palmer this season or is his character only going to be on Legends of Tomorrow?

I know he'll back for the backdoor crossover episodes for LoT, but I'm not sure if he'll be in any strictly Arrow episodes.

I'll got with "Thea" for $1,000, Bob.

Whoever dies I'm sure it'll happen in the mid-season finale.

I agree that Dig and Felicity are the front runners. Honestly I have no idea who it'll be though. Thea "died" last season, Laurel seems safe enough just because they killed a Lance sister last year, Lance could be a candidate but the graveyard scene implied a great bit more personal connection to the dead than I think Oliver has with Lance.
My gut tells me its Dig. Even in the pilot episode I felt that Dig was a character that wouldnt make it to the end of the show (along with Lance). Dig has been Oliver's Obi-Wan throughout the shows run and in every hero's journey the mentor always ends up biting the dust.
I agree Felicity is too obvious of a choice, but I also dont think its her simply because the character has too large a fan base and brings a lot of publicity to the show. Plus it'd be a damn shame not to be able to see Felicity's fine arse every week .
Anyways, excellent start to the season. Hope they keep it up.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it's the obvious answer: Felicity. Laurel and Oliver are apparently a thing in the comics so it only makes sense for it to be Felicity so they can push Laurel and Ollie closer together.

So are we all thinking Darhk worships Trigon and thats where his powers come from?

So...Raven's Daddy?

Kinda looks like him to me with the multiple sets of eyes (if thats what those things on its cheeks are), the blood ritual and the runes on Darhk's arms.

I agree that Felicity is the front runner, with Digs being right behind her. I just know how these showrunners love to make you think one thing will happen, then they go in a slightly different direction. I just think killing of Diggle before he gets justice for his brother would basically be crapping on him. But it definitely isn't out of the question, especially if they can come up with a way to give Diggle some sort of closure in regards to his brother's death.
I have a hard time thinking they kill off the Red Arrow/Speedy this season, especially right after they just exiled Roy last season. Also it would be pretty crappy killing off Oliver's last living blood kin.
And I don't see anyway they kill off the Black Canary. That would be a big time DC character they'd be killing off.
Speaking of Roy, I guess he could be a candidate if they bring him back for an episode or two. I think that would be pretty anticlimactic to bring him back just so you can kill him off. I mean, at this point I don't think he would have that much of an emotional tie for the audience since he had basically been written off Team Arrow.

I could definitely see that being an idol to Trigon. That would be pretty sweet if it is.

The blood magic works, but I don't think those are eyes on the cheeks. Trigon's dual eye sets are one above the other (it's a distinctive enough feature that I don't think they would frick with it).
The presence and reaction of Barry makes the knee-jerk thought that it's Felicity, but as others have said this show loves it's bait-n-switch. I think from a story standpoint that Lance is the best option.
He turns on Dahrkon Dahrk kills him for it. Team Arrow didn't know he was on Dahrk's team so they are out for revenge (and I think Barry and Lance met).
The other option is Thea. While her emergence as GA's sidekick has been foreshadowed since Ollie first called her "Speedy", it wouldn't be the first time he's lost a family member and this one would be close enough for Barry to feel obligated to come from Central City to attend the funeral.
Arrow and Flash run (no pun) along the same time, Oliver's mention of Zoom makes me think there we will be treated to a cross-over before the mid-season finale (haven't looked into it, not a spoiler fan, so just speculating). What I wonder though is if this 6-month leap was a one-shot thing or if the show (or both) will be jumping ahead 6 months.
Digging the Supergirl ads with the chick that played Hit Girl as a young Kara.

Hell, if Thea bites it then he would've lost every single one of his family...and to violent deaths at that.

Can't wait for Constantine to show up.

Unless Lance's relationship with Oliver improves, I don't think the death of Laurel's father will cause Team Arrow to go on a quest for revenge by death. Plus it must be noted that Laurel isn't there with Oliver. It seems like everyone gave him his space in this scene. He didn't even want Barry's company as he told him he'd like to be alone.
In my opinion, the person in the grave is either Diggle, Felicity, or Thea. But if it was Diggle then where is his family? And if it was Thea then where is Malcolm Merlyn? Of course there is a possibility that Diggle's wife had been killed and that's why she's not there with Oliver. Same thing with Malcolm. But I don't think so. My money is definitely on Felicity being dead.

Another interesting thing is that when Oliver is standing over the grave and says "I'm gonna kill him" its vague in who is actually referring to. You assume he's talking about Damien Dahrk, but with how vague the entire scene is he could have been referring to someone else.

But if it was Felicity, where was her mom?

I wouldn't put anything past the showrunners at this point.

He threatens to kill Captain Lance for getting Felicity/Diggle/Thea killed.
