I agree that this tone looks horrible. The show hasn't been the same since deathstroke. Really hope they can recapture that feeling.

There is too much going on. Too many people, too busy, and too many storylines we don't care about. Also, Felicity better not cry in the opener.....or else.....

I'll say this, Darhk look fantastic. He might be their biggest casting coup yet. Hopefully he can bring some focus to the show

Its got footage from the first five episodes, so yea theres a lot of things going on. I see the first half of the season having two big storylines, the stuff with HIVE and the fallout of Sara and Thea using the Pits (which is why Constantine shows up).

Atleast they're not wasting any time with introducing the big bad and getting him involved in the story which was my biggest problem with season 3.

2nd promo was released. The biggest takeaway is Damien Darhk appears to have magic, either that or he turned on hacks.

Trailer 2

I hope that is magic. I don't think it would fit if he was telekinetic. But him learning magic with his background with the League, and with Constantine appearing it, him having mystic powers would probably fit.

On a side note, I'd love for them to introduce Zatanna at some point in future seasons. I think she would definitely fit on Arrow.

Zatanna would be a great fit for the Arrowverse, but they might be wanting to use her for the movies.

Ok, I'm just posting in here, it's time for me to get my Movie/TV Board grove back, so excited, watching all the information we know so far right now to learn.

I have not been paying attention at all this summer, so, so far I'm extremely excited about what I'm seeing in the trailers!

i feel like felicity needs to die. oliver in love sucks and has really dragged down the entire tone of the show. even the side characters have become parodies of themselves lately. season 1 and 2 was great because it was a CW show that almost didnt belong on the CW. now its getting closer to its station's roots.

i could honestly see this version of oliver freaking out about being out of low fat margarine to make pancakes with. guy needs to go back to being the person in pain desperately trying to save a fallen city.

They've painted themselves into a corner with Oliver and Felicity. I can't see it going anyway that is good for the show.

So you want him to be Batman?

Dark and gritty doesnt = good. That's what they forgot last season. His angst has run its course, now they need to get back to the superhero shennanigans and let the show be fun again. Green Arrow isnt Batman, he may be similar in origin and skillset but his personality has always been much lighter.

Of course I imagine that if they continue to bring Oliver closer to his comic roots a lot of the people on this site will bitch and moan, he's a huge liberal and hippie in the comics

Do you disagree that season 1 and 2 were way better than anything in season 3? Unfortunately when Oliver was closer to the batman side, the show was MUCH better. That's quickly changed and season 3 suffered for it.

He doesn't have to be batman. His partners and relationships with his family and friends makes him vastly different than Bats. But taking away his entire mission of wanting to protect his city and bring justice to those on his list has made him a soft, aimless character. He's almost lost purpose. How many times are we going to see him "quit?"

That doesnt hold much weight though because Oliver was never closer to being Batman than he was last season. He spends all season pushing away the people that are close to him and sacrifices everything for his city and family. At the start he even says he cant be Oliver Queen and The Arrow so he pushes the Oliver Queen persona to the side. It becomes his real mask just like Bruce Wayne is just a mask for Batman. Hell the entire Ras storyline is almost entirely pulled from the Batman comics, even Oliver's shirtless duel with Ras.

Exactly, and when he wasnt pushing everyone away (like Batman) in season 2 everything ran smoother.

A lot of people are putting season 3's faults entirely on the relationship drama but that was only a symptom of the problem. Season 3 sucked for a lot of reasons but the main two we're its plot and its tone. The plot took too long to kick into gear, took stupid turns and made absolutely no fricking sense (Malcolm's plan to kill Sara to get Oliver to kill Ras still baffles the shite out of me).

The tone was like they saw how well the 2nd part of season 2 was received and thought to themselves "well that was dark as frick, people must like that" and went full on emo for season 3. To much crying, too much drama and not nearly enough fun. That's what a comic book show should be above all else, fun.

It's why the Flash is so good, it can hit all the right emotional beats and be serious but it never stops being a blast to watch. Thats why season 2 of Arrow was great. Forget the drama, forget trying to cram in as many plot twists as possible, forget everything. Just make the show fun and everything else will fall into place.

For what felt like the last 10 episodes, every episode ended in a cliffhanger that was immediately undone in the opening scene of the following week's episode.

Then Oliver's transformation into Al Sa Him lasted all of about 2 and a half episodes if even that.
