Are they doing a remake of the Star Wars movies or creating another story?

Never got much into Star Wars but I the only female I remember is the princess. What's the deal?

the one that is about to be released is a direct sequel to Return of the Jedi and would be part 7 in the series' chronological order.

The black actor is actually playing Luke. Leia is now his adopted sister (played by 59 year old Carrie Fisher). JJ Abrams thought it worked well in Fantastic Four so he stole the idea.
