Are Superman III and IV as bad as people say they are?

Truthfully...I don't think I've ever seen Superman III. I haven't seen Superman IV since I was a little boy but if the scenes I have seen on YouTube are any indication, that movie is one of the all-time worst.

Yes, but that doesn't stop them from being fun to watch.

I'm one of the biggest Superman fanboys there is and I really don't like to acknowledge their existence.

There's a reason why Superman Returns in 2006 only picked up where they left off after the 2nd movie, not 4. Bryan Singer basically said they do exist but they're no longer canon.

Superman IV: The Quest for Peace certainly is.

Superman III is just bad, but not legendary bad.

TBH, the original Donner film was pretty cheesy. Fun, but cheesy. I was right in the wheelhouse of the target audience when it came out (junior high) and I even knew then it was. Plus, Margot Kidder is as unattractive as Lois Lane as Maggie Gyllenhall is in TDK.

Superman 3 at least has Richard Pryor. I remember the scene where the woman combines with the computer or whatever always kinda freaked me out too.

Pryor was awful. He wasn't funny but made the movie cheesy

Yes, they are pretty bad. Don't know how they got to that level of badness. III is some weird attempt at being a comedy.

Still wish we had the "Reeve" Superman in the current series of movies. Would've made things more interesting.

Christopher Reeve's Superman combined with today's movie magic and capability of writing would make for a hell of a movie.

Maybe it was just me but I never liked Reeve as Superman. I always thought he was slightly effeminate.

it IS just you

Also, III & IV don't deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence. Both are bad but IV is so spectacularly shitty that it stands on its own. III was a campy mess but does have some very cool moments (evil Superman & his showdown vs Clark) but IV has no redeeming qualities.

Parts of III are actually fascinating to watch - and Reeve was awesome in it.

IV is just horrible.

I'll join you on the outcast boat, I can't stand to watch any of the Reeve movies.

I actually liked aspects of III.

4 is worse than people say.

I think so too. Too bad Singer ruined our chance with Superman Returns. Nothing wrong with the a story of how the modern world would react to a big blue boy scout saving the day all the time. Just like the Nolan movies explored how people would react to a man dressed as a bat went around beating up criminals, not everyone would welcome a flying man who could solve any conflict. BvS touched on it but really did a poor job of exploring it. Could be a great story if done right.

It's not that I dislike Henry Cavil as Superman, I just dislike what Synder did to him. I'm still trying to figure out why the world was in full mourning mode when he died. 10 minutes earlier, half of them hated him.

I'm probably alone here, but I'm also still bitter that they took away the John Williams score.
