I just ordered one and wanted to get anybody's input on it. I like to watch shows on my iPad, so I want to be able to watch my DVR playlist on it. The GenieGo will allow me to do this. Just wondering if it's HD. I assume it is, otherwise I'll cancel it. Anybody here got one?

I had the older version when it was called(I don't remember).

It was a piece of shite. Took 2 hours to transfer a 30 minute TV show. That's when you could get the app to actually work. I gave it to a poster on here who was looking for one. Maybe they're better now, idk.

I use it. Works fine. It takes a while to convert files for for transfer but you can choose to do that automatically and then transfer at your leisure in a few minutes. The file stays on your device for 30 days. Or you can just look directly at your playlist remotely and play at any time.

When you stream your DVR content, how is the quality?

Not great, but I don't do this very often. I usually transfer to my device to catch up with shows on trips. I imagine if you want hd quality streaming you will not like it. Hulu plus has recent shows with good quality.

Speaking of Genie, whats the consensus on it? My DVRs are about 5yrs old and I am considering using my upgrade and grabbing the Genie. Just wondering how smooth everything is? The biggest issue with my HDDVRs is they are slowing down. A lot of times I'll hit a channel number like 249 and it will take so long to process, only the 2 goes through and I end up on terrestrial stations.

It's awesome. Just make sure you get the 44 instead of the 34. It's 5 times faster.

A'int that the truth, they don't give out the 34 to new customers anymore. My 34 works like shite but everyone else I know has the 44 and it is incredible.

I have the 34 and mine does this. I'm about ready to cancel DirecTV because of it.

So do I. My contract is up in august so I'm going to use it as leverage to keep me.

The only problem with that is losing all my DVR auto records and having to go through all that again.

It works very well. The mini Genie in the bedroom is a little slow though. Might give them a call about that.

well if it does what it's supposed to do, I won't mind paying the 100 bones. They are coming out Saturday to install so I will update thread afterwards with my thoughts.

As an 11yr customer who hasn't had new equipment in 6yrs, they should give me everything that I need fee free.
