Anyone have any cool stories about going to a notable location where a movie was filmed?
Not really that cool, but the main house in Steel Magnolias has a pool and a large concrete driveway that was covered up with astro turf during the reception scene to make it look like grass.

Went to the sets of Night of the Iguana in Mexico. They were pretty run down.

The John Wayne Alamo set west of San Antonio.

I've been forced to drive through that plastic POS known as Seaside, FL. Perfect setting for the Truman Show, but it gave me the creeps before they made the movie.

Big Fish - Huntingdon College in Montgmery Alabama was the set for the parts of the films that was suppose to be Auburn.

My brother was there on orientation prior to school starting during filming - got to shake hands with Danny Devito.

I've always wanted to go the the corner of West Fayette and North Monroe Street in West Baltimore.

Also, I dropped acid once and visited the set of Fantastic Planet.

Went to Edinburgh, Scotland and found the place where the car hits Renton in the beginning of the movie, it was right by the train station on Calton Rd off of Princes St.

Also saw Princes St. where they show them running right at the start of the movie,

Was in Glasgow also and wanted to go to the bar where Begbie threw the glass but didn't have a chance to make it over there.

Went to Old Tucson in Arizona where they filmed tons of old westerns...McClintock, a lot of the old Little House on the Prairie town scenes were filmed there and parts of Tombstone. A large part of it burned down several years ago...real shame cause they had tons of costumes and movie props that were lost.

I work next to the big warehouse used in Hard Target's last action scene wit Van Damm. Crap movie btw.

I live near some dukes of hazzard film spots. Race track, police chase scenes, LSU campus, etc.

The diner/cafe in Easy Rider, "the man is in the window."

A few randoms

Been already mentioned, but I lived about 15 seconds from Huntingdon College where some of Big Fish was filmed. I was an extra in two scenes of that movie in Tallassee, Alabama and Wetumpka, Alabama.

The store that gets robbed at the beginning of My Cousin Vinny is on Georgia Highway 16, just east of the Butts/Jasper County line. Been by it many times going into Jackson or Monticello from my family's lake house.

The house from Driving Miss Daisy is in the Druid Hills section of Atlanta, maybe 5 minutes from the house I grew up in.

If you have ever been to a concert at Aaron's/Hi-Fi Buys/Lakewood Ampitheater in Atlanta it is on the old Lakewood Fairgrounds where the opening and closing of Smokey and the Bandit and parts of one of the sequels were shot there.

Been inside the Peachtree Plaza a few times in Atlanta, but don't know the exact room where the guy gets knocked out the window in Sharkey's Machine.

The Boar's Nest from the Dukes of Hazzard tv show is not too far from Covington, GA. It is now being used as a church.

Tons of shows filmed in and around Covington - Dukes, In the Heat of the Night (city library was the police station), now Vampire Diaries - see tons of places I know in those shows.

My buddy's house was used in the movie The Chamber. Some of the actors stayed there and we got to hang out with a few of them. We were in the 5th grade at the time.
Also been to the place where the love scene was filmed in Deliverance and saw the rock that John Voight had to climb at the end.

There are some pretty cool stories in here. I've been to the that crazy zigzag road in San Francisco where dirty Harry was filmed but that's probably been done in here.

Anyone know where the film "the Beach" was filmed where they have that lagoon area? The movie potrayed it being off the coast of thailand, but who knows. I've always wanted to go to that beach. And I've always wanted to go to Kuahe- sp where Jurassic Park and The first part of Indiana Jones was filmed.

When I was in Chicago last year, my sister and her boyfriend took me on a driving tour of all of the chase scene from The Dark Knight from Lower Wacker to where they flipped the 18 wheeler.

Yeah, I went there for a get together during the lights a few years ago. House seemed really smaller than in the movie.
