Either way you slice it, the sequel trilogy will fall into the same hole as the old post-RoTJ EU, making the "chosen one" prophecy completely pointless.
Would have made more sense if the sequel trilogy was set hundreds of years after the original films like some of the comics in the old EU. They would never do that straight away though -- not with the original cast still alive (RIP Carrie Fisher).

I don't really think that is what is going to happen, but there is at least one plot hole.. device.. whatever that would support something like this.
Disney is making the original 6, into now 9. I'm sure they'll make more, but the current "plot" is going to be a 9 movie arc, right? Typically when you do something like that, there is a central theme or plot that carries through the entire thing. If you take away 7-8-9, it is clearly visible with Anakin's destiny being roundabout completed. 1-6 are his story, basically. But how does 7,8,9 fit into that? I just feel like at some point they're going to have to connect it back to fit in more with the originals, and what you described is a possibility. Hopefully not the outcome, but yeah.
