Anyone see this movie? Thoughts? Worth my time?

Umm, yeah, I liked it. Its nothing THAT special, but its a good competently made independent film with some really good performances. I'd give it 3 out of 4 stars.

I liked it. It was good acting, very cool premise. It's not really a sci-fi movie though. I mean the setting is, but it's more like a drama.

It's a slowly unfolding character study that purposefully leaves some things up in the air so that you have to think about it. I can honestly say that although they are 2 totally different kinds of movies - the ending slaps you in the face like The Prestige did.
I watched this one and The Sound of My Voice in the same evening. Weird dreams that night.

Sounds like Take Shelter. I was not a fan of it at first but after a lot of thought it's a damn solid movie if you put the effort into it.

Yeah, it's worth a watch. Definitely a different ending, different but thought provoking. Acting was pretty good, liked the lead character. Get a beer and watch it at home. Enjoy.

i have a slight issue with the ending of this movie.

if the reason she got the ticket to go to Earth 2 waas because of the essay she wrote about being a convict, how was the innocent her selected to make the trip to Earth 1?

Great movie...loved it. Agree that it's not a scifi movie rather than a character drama set against a scifi background.
As for the spoiler..

Actually, she was just accepted to MIT. Her records were sealed because she was a minor. I would take that as she just graduated high school. Of course she could have had that Doogie Howser thing going and she was a prodigy.

This is a very good movie, you should watch it. Really, a lot of the time, it's the stuff going on in the background that makes this movie so good. Pay attention to that for the actual money lines. Many of the things you hear on the radios and TVs make this movie exquisite.
What if there was another planet like ours? What if there was another you? What would you do? Such a cool premise.
Sure, it could have been done better, but this is a movie you won't stop thinking about when it's over. Hell, I'm going to give it 4 stars for its lasting power.

It is infinitely better than Melancholia. Although I did like the second half of Melancholia, the movie as a whole was sort of meh.

This is true, but unfortunatley never gets deep into any of this. They could have just left the Syfy element out of the movie.

I think Brit Marling could be a major star. I love her look, acting and her presence. I probably overrate the film because of her.
