Amira Demon Form

This is the scene that gif is from.

The show has a 7.8 on MAL, which isn't bad.

Hulu is amazing for anime. That alone is worth the cost of the service.

Married, with a kid who will be here in 3 weeks. I'm not allowed to have any extra expenses according to my dear wife. I'll figure something out eventually. Scruffy has mentioned too many good animes for me to not get it eventually.

Tell the wife all the amazing kids shows. Thats how I sold my wife. Now she used it the most. I cut cable and i run with Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime, rabbit ears for the locals, and we use my parents info to get Watch Espn on the laptop. Laptop is hooked up to tv.

Hey Scruffy, have you seen:

Ultraviolet: Code 044,
Blood,
Ghost Slayers of Ayashi,
Kurozuka

They all look...interesting, at least, varying degrees of it. Didn't see any of them on your list in the OP. They are all on Crackle for free. Another free ROKU channel has 3 or 4 Ghost in the Shell Movies.

I rarely visit this board, but dropped by tonight to see if there was a thread about a show I'm interested in, and saw the anime thread.

I'll admit I haven't watched a lot of anime - some of the usual suspects: death note, Akira, etc., and I've enjoyed them well enough, but a few years ago I watched a series called Ergo Proxy that i found captivating.

It begins like so many anime (or tv shows and movies do these days) as a post-apocalyptic tale about a severely damaged planet ( seems to be Earth), and the way humans exist and interact with each other, based on class systems, and with robots.

The themes are big, Gnosticism plays a huge role, but viewers who could care less about any literary or philosophical allusions might enjoy the carnage (some really unique and cleverly realized monsters), the mystery (a great detective story) and the truly gorgeous animation.

I'm not sure where it can be viewed, but it's definitely worth checking out if you can find it.

Bruh, I have a job and it takes up most of my time.

Never heard of Ultraviolet: Code 044. Could be cool. I'll check it out. Thanks.

I've seen Blood+, I'm assuming that is the one you are talking about. It is pretty good and based off of a really good 45 min short movie called Blood: The Last Vampire. I'd recommend it.

I've seen an episode or two of Ghost Slayers Ayashi. Didn't have a chance to really get into it though.

Never seen Kurozuka, but I just read about it, and it sound really cool. Let me know how it is.

A really great anime that truly shines in its unique art style. The dark colors really work with the anime.

I thought the story was alright. I did really like the characters. Pino and Re-l are really well done.

I was being highly facetious, that was a shameless bump.

It was either that or this gif. Except that wouldn't post.

Started Oregairu last night, aka My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU. Obviously a huge departure for me. Reading /r/animu convinced me strangely enough. I have to say, its a really good show. Already most of the way done with the second season, but its only 13 episodes a season.

Going to start Charlotte after this. Looks....ok.

Oregairu 7/10: Obviously a show based on the lack of communication between people in Japan, whose culture teaches people to communicate their thoughts less than Americans do on a normal basis, can be a bit of a stretch for an American to enjoy. However, its simply a fun show. Kind of shallow in some ways, but with a few strong moments thrown in. At least, to an American who doesn't fully understand the cultural references. It is a solid time passer.

Charlotte 8/10: So far, a really good show. Has a few deeper levels I didn't catch at first. Seems fluffy, but gets dark really quick about halfway through, out of fricking nowhere. Seems like it may be trying to have it both ways. Still not done, there are only 8 eps available for free right now, 9 total out of a 13 episode season.

Just started Kurozuka, one episode in. Early rating is 8/10. Might change, but so far so good. It's a little older, animation is hand drawn, but as a more adult style than most hand drawn shows now. Looks a bit more like Blood+, which I also just started.

At this point, I am now actively following:
SAO
Log Horizon
Akame Ga Kill(maybe? hopefully?)
Rokka-Braves of the Six Flowers
GATE
God Eater
Yona of the Dawn
World Break: Aria of Curse for a Holy Swordsman
Is It Wrong to Try to Pick up Girls in a Dungeon
Charlotte
Oregairu
Noragami
DBZ Super
Kaze No Stigma(maybe? hopefully?)

I'm sure there are a few I can't remember.

Hope to see this fall:
Utawarerumono Itsuwari No Kamen(can't wait for the English translation )
Overlord
Relife
Rage of Bahamut: Genesis
Overlord

Not even going to try to list everything I've finished that won't have any new episodes.

I should have never entered this thread.

Especially for me, I have way too much time on my hands right now.

However, my boy is about to be born anytime in the next 3 weeks. I'll probably have to slow down some. School will be a big enough task to get through. Then again, when I'm feeding him at 4 am, what better than to watch an episode or two of something. Don't need to fall asleep holding a newborn.

I shouldn't really doom him to nerd-dom.....should I?

Then again, maybe I already have. His first name is from a book, pictures of pages with his name from the book are even framed in his room. Then the middle name is Artillery, which is an old family name. Simultaneously making a completely awesome, and completely nerdy, name

I was a jock-nerd, so maybe I can walk the fine line to raise another.

Nerd-Dom it is!

Thought about Charlotte a bit more, gonna pull my rating down a bit to a 6.5. I enjoyed it, but no as much as SAO, LH, or Akame Ga Kill. I think I over rated it a tad simply because I had just binged 8 episodes.

That being said...

Viewster had the newest episode of Charlotte already up. So of course...I just finished it. Normally wouldn't make a note for a single episode in the middle of a season, but son of a bitch. Show went back up to a 8 for me. What a fricking twist.

I still have to say, they are definitely trying to have their cake and eat it too. Unless the darkness I mentioned is even darker than I thought.

There are a lot of nerds on this site. After all, the Flash, Arrow, LOTR, Marvel, DC, GoT....etc, season/movie nerdout threads are a substantial part of the board. Plus the gaming board. But we are all here because of sports. Its become much more common within the video game era. Guys my age and younger especially. Seems like Halo 2 was the first "nerdy" thing that every single jock at my school played. We had a few tournaments, and the guys who would finish in the top 10 were normally the 10 best athletes in the school. The 3 best H2 players in the school all played sports in college, on scholarship.

and yes, that is a shameless brag in the last sentence.

2 quick notes regarding the OP.

A) Kinda thinking you should add this. For those who want to start out. I'm assuming you've seen it. If not, it is both amusing, and helpful.

B) Was there an Non "Awesomeness Edition" Anime thread?

Edit: For the record. It was Golf, and it was at the equivalent of a NAIA school. Was a sport's jack of all trades, but a master of none.

Edit #2: Finally broke down and found Overlord on a website that ends in ".ag". Blew through the first 8 episodes. Apparently I'm on a binge spree lately. I must say this though, I would have binged this show regardless. Overlord is fricking awesome. Might, just might, be better than SAO and LH. Need to see how the season finishes.
