Am I overly nostalgic, or is The Wonder Years awesome

I was a kid and I remember watching it with my parents. They watched it because it was nostalgic to their childhood. I've rediscovered it a few times, the latest being tonight on Netflix. I've just always loved this show. Its just timeless to me. Plus...Winnie Cooper.

It was really good when I watched it as a kid.
But the idea of rewatching it now depresses me. Maybe I'm weird.

Also, Savage is an underrated actor.

One of the great premises ever for a show. The 60s nostalgia in the 80s was off the charts but it brought some great TV and movies. Diner, The Big Chill, The Wonder Years, Field of Dreams.. All had romantic views of the 60s just as we have romantic views of the 80s now... It's all just one big cycle on repeat.
Oh and the opening sequence of The Wonder Years with Joe Cocker was incredible..

It's straight up one of the best shows of all time. Kevin was a piece of shite, though.
Fun fact: Becky Slater was Winnie Cooper's IRL sister.

TWY is amazing. I am in the middle of a rewatch now. In S4 I believe. It's just as good, if not better, than I remember it being. And I forgot how many episodes dealt with "serious" type things, as opposed to more humorous angles. I think that's one reason why the show is so great, because it just focuses on the aspects of that time period in a kid's life and doesn't worry about trying to be funny or whatever.
Also:
Yes...yes he was.

I was probably too old to have been amazed by it when it originally aired.
However, I will say that Fred Savage delivered some insanely mature performances for a kid that age in a show like that.

What made it great, better than today's shows, is that the drama wasn't based on outlandish extreme things or crazy circumstances. It was just everyday life. Things we all experienced regardless of when we grew up. Sometimes it was funny, somethimes it was sad, just like real life. They didn't need to have a millionaire black guy adopted by white parents meet his drug addict gay father who is dying of cancer in order to have a story. It was just a middle class kid, his family, his friend and the hot girl across the street navigating growing up and living everyday life.

Most people can appreciate both. Calm down.

I would have banged the mom then and still would now.

I'm not un-calm. Lol. Just pointing out why Wonder Years is one of the best ever. Sure both can be "appreciated", but it takes more talent - both writing and acting - to have a super successful dramedy based on real life than it does when your writing has no real life constraints and you are allowed to constantly indulge in ridiculous contrivances.

Marilyn Manson played Arnold's friend.
It was a great concept and show. As was My So-Called Life which wasn't around but one season I believe.

He got that wonky eye replaced and cleaned up nicely. Wonder if he still tours?

It's an amazing show. Not just you. It probably deserves more acclaim tbh.

I've said this before but the episode where Wayne's buddy gets back from Vietnam and is standing in just his skivvies in the middle of a football field after having flashbacks was some damn strong tv for its time.
Also the entire episode called 'The Lake' with 'kara' was also amazing.
One of my favorite shows of all time without a doubt. So many poignant moments in all of the seasons.
The last episode had me
