This show has become a joke unfortunately. These dip shiites appear, so far, very unaccustomed to being in the woods at night, not to mention the fact that the weather, darkness and solitude freak them out. Psychological testing is clearly lacking but likely makes for better TV..no southerner, no care, alas

Some if them look decent this season. They focused on Desmond the first episode last season too.

I'm glad they at least give the impression that they soent more time pre-checking the skills of the contestants.
Would love to have Alan do some in-episode commentary all season long.

Pulling for fowler at this point. Dude doesn't live in much better conditions at home 
. Really surprised about naked hippy chick. She might have more skills and fortitude than i first gave her credit. It always amazes me that a more permanent home/shelter isn't started almost immediately. If you are potentially going to be there for up to one year i would start some type of crude log home with fire place

I was saying that to myself everytime they showed the next contestant's site. I've posted in the previous Alone season threads about this as well.
I don't understand why they wouldn't build a tall & wide log style cabin complete with a fire wood drying set up & stacking up the rocks for a fireplace.
I wonder if they have restrictions on what they are allowed to build by the show or by the host country...?

I think it's a little bit of them getting their bearings, seeing if where they are at is an ideal spot and not over-exerting themselves with no water or food sources established.
It only showed a few people on episode 1, still have like 6 others out there. Some may be doing this. Also just depends on how they cut and edit the show.

Did I miss anything in the last 10 minutes? My DVR cut off the ending for some reason. Last thing I saw was Mr. PMA tapping out and Fowler snapping his suspenders.

I'll give you a little room on that reply for the 1st 2-3 episodes. But looking back to seasons 1 & 2, only 1 person really built a large legit shelter-the guy that built the sink, game board, fire stove, etc. then tapped out.

I think what the Black guy, I think Britt is his name is doing is smart.
The other guy who built all that tapped out because he felt he had no home connection. What Britt is doing with having the knowledge of knowing that he has left a message for his family to read each Monday at a certain time, gives him the mental and emotional comfort, that he is still in communication with them.
I think had that guy who built all that, done something similar..it would have helped a lot more.

TBH i quit watching last season after Mike went out.
I was having to watch the next day on demand and the dipshit went on his facebook and started spoiling all sorts of shite the night of the episode. ruined it. I don't even know who won S2.

Go and watch the last 2 or 3 episodes from last season. The psychological impact hits one contestant very hard and show the physical and mental demand it takes to do this. It is gut-wrenching to see him/her battle through it.

The fishing seems to be fantastic over there judging by how easy they are catching lake trout with crude lures. Also the bum i think Greg is his name has a bow with would be ideal out there. Just go set up on a game trail for a couple hours each day and you should be able to kill a hog especially if he starts baiting the area with fish guts.

Yeah fishing looks good for now. But when that winter kicks in things will likely change for the ugly...
I'm impressed by the edible plant life in a few areas so far. That's really going to help extend the stays of a few. The positive mental outlook of finding food often will work well.
