Not really. I feel like a lot of these are on the list just because they're considered some of the greatest films of all-time.

I think peter Jackson’s 2005 King Kong has one of the most underrated scores of all time

I hate these lists. Always lists movies from the 1920s and 1930s. Like someone said earlier, no good movies made in the 1990s or later? Such bullshite. Too much respect for the old movies.

You'd at least think Schindler's List would have made it from the 90s onward.

Can you name me one legendary film score that's really stuck out to you in the last 15 or so years?

The Lord of the Rings
Inception
Interstellar
The Dark Knight
Dunkirk
Inside Out
There Will Be Blood
Pan's Labyrinth
The Social Network
Just off the top of my head.

I've seen pretty much all those movies and can't think of the score in my head, except maybe TDK. Jaws, Star Wars, The Godfather GWTW all are legendary

And of those you listed, I would only consider The Lord of the Rings even remotely worthy to be on that list.

The greatest omission off the top 25 is The Alamo.
The score is by Dimitri Tiomkin.
The reason you do not see many later films in the top 25, is because Hollywood was a machine from 1920-1960 and hired the best in the business. The effect of that Hollywood machine lasted near into the early 1980's, since that time there has been a major drop in original scores.

Come on man. The score to Pans is almost a character unto itself. And Interstellar and Inception are Zimmers finest works and some of the best of the last 30 years.

quote:yes I agree but that doesn’t mean there aren’t still iconic works being put out. The score to inception is one of the greatest ever put on film.

I don't know enough about most of these, but are any primarily known for their score in an otherwise mediocre movie. Because to me it looks like a list of "movies we think are great, that had great scores".
Otherwise how does Superman not make it on there?

Jaws is my personal favorite

There is nothing more recent than 1986 on this list.
No, I don't agree with this list.

Glory's soundtrack never gets the love it deserves.

Can't even take this list seriously with the omission of Basil Poledouris' Conan the Barbarian.

The lists are always complete shite.

Braveheart and Superman belong on that list
