ABC has handed out another comedy series order, greenlighting “Uncle Buck,” starring comedian Mike Epps.
Based on the 1989 John Hughes movie of the same name, which starred John Candy, ABC’s modern-day re-telling centers around a diverse ensemble, following the success of its freshman breakout “Black-ish,” which was renewed for Season 2 yesterday.
The title character (played by Epps) is a fun-loving, but irresponsible guy who needs a job and a place to stay. By happy coincidence, his nieces and nephew’s nanny has just quit so his brother and sister-in-law need his help, and his unconventional personality just may make him the right fit for the family — plus, they may be the answer to his problems, too.

So, is this just a black version of the movie?

did a part of you die when CBS made an Uncle Buck TV series in the early 90s?

The show starred Kevin Meaney as Buck, a slob who drinks, smokes and is named the guardian of his nieces, Tia and Maizy, and nephew, Miles, after their parents, Bob and Cindy (Buck's brother and sister-in-law), are suddenly killed in a car accident.

A part of the movie died when they decided to kill off the parents on the TV show (instead of sending them on a trip).

yea that was pretty harsh.
especially for a show made in 1990.

Absolutely. John Candy's timeless classic is never to be messed with.

i read in a magazine a while back where the hot thing in hollywood now is black and minority tv
they said people are rushing to get old white shows redone using black casts
this is a prime example. also said that ABC is planning on rolling out an all black lineup for one night of the week
crazy, blacks are still only 13% of the population

Just like when they made the karate kid black.

The only way I'd watch is if Jayden Smith was the son

Uncle Buck's arse would be tossed in jail w/quickness for what he does to poor innocent Bug.

this is as bad as Wil Smith putting his son as the Karate kid, or kinnear as buttermaker
