I know the ASOIAF books get talked about on this board; figured this is in the right place.

Anyone getting the book? I'd like to hear first impressions as I've got too much on my plate to take it on right now.

No kidding. I really do think he has no idea WTF he is doing story-wise and is just gonna milk it until he dies.

It's a big pretty book with lots of illustrations in it. This book is physical copy worthy. I'm buying it not only for the stories but for the nerd appeal of having it displayed on my coffee table.

So what is the consensus of the board? Must buy? Reviews are mixed.

So I got the book. It is pretty cool, but it is definitely a coffee table book. It's 12" x 9" it's too big to casually read IMHO. I'm not spending another $20 on the kindle version though that's for sure. So I guess I will make do.

I agree with you. It is sitting next to my crapper but it actually makes my arm tired trying to read a couple short stories at a time. The thing feels like it weighs about 10 pounds and is a pain in the arse to hold.

I grabbed the epub for it to put on my iPad.

It's been well worth the $28 I paid in pre-order. Has some good content and love the illustrations. I'd recommend it.
