Yes!! I liked Carrey's take on Olaf but I hope they decide to go darker with him this time like the books.

Can't wait. Whoever is cast as Olaf will make or break the series though. He needs to be dark and evil, but also have a little dark humor to him, not as much as JC. But he can't be just totally one dimensional either way

I never understood why they didn't make the planned franchise of the first movie.

Literally the only books I read as a kid, were my favorite by far, purchased the whole series as an adult and still enjoyed them just as much.

Excited for this.

I need to read these. Didn't they have a movie at some point?

They really fricked up on the movie. If I can remember correctly, they pretty much put the 1-3 books in a single hour and a half film. It was terrible.

I would have to watch this without the wife. she is a huge fan of the books, and a tremendous fan of the movie - however the last time we tried to watch it, we got a call that her mom had passed away - so the movie is a reminder of that for her.

I didn't think the movie was half bad - they just crammed a lot into it. Jim Carey was actually quite good in it.

To clarify, Netflix is still making the series, just this specific teaser is fake.

quote:

The planned series, which was announced last fall, is still real. When it was announced, Lemony Snicket said, “I can’t believe it. After years of providing top-quality entertainment on demand, Netflix is risking its reputation and its success by associating itself with my dismaying and upsetting books.”
