Empire is pure 80s sci fi awesomeness, when you get a chance watch the original.

Man you're missing out.

I never saw Shawshank until college. And seeing it so late ended up hurting me because everyone said it was the best piece of film ever created and it set the bar too high.

so, how difficult is attaining the originals? why the hell are they marketing it as 'the original trilogy' when it's the re-edited trilogy?

There was a special edition cut in 2004 with the laser disc prints on them...VHS is another option

I wouldn't suggest it if you're not a huge fan. Empire is my favorite movie so it was a no brainer

These movies are always coming on TV.

However, if you have never read the books you are either going to really love them, or you will be utterly confused.

After watching the first few movies I had to read the books to understand what was going on.

Outside of the first one (more of a true kid's movie IMO) they were all really good. However, I feel that the way the storyline in the movie jumps arounds, it can sometimes be very confusing with out knowing the context from the book.

Some really good ones of this decade I've been meaning to see:

The Departed
No Country for Old Men
There Will be blood

I didn't see The Dark Knight until like 2010 or 2011.

Old movies I want to see:
Singing in the Rain
African Queen

I have to be honest: I sat through this. It was good.......

.....But I'd much rather just watch the same story in the Magnificent Seven. Yul Brenner and Steve McQueen are a lot more entertaining and no subtitles.

Never watched the Godfather movies but have the blu-ray box set.

Best friend had never seen The Goonies, so I made her watch it and as she put it "I had no attachment to it, I guess since I didn't see it as a kid"
