What's weird is that both Charlie Sheen and Whoopi were both at one time relatively respected actors. Nowadays their presence in the movie makes it feel like a parody.

Charlie Sheen’s ‘9/11’ Thriller Looks Like One of the Most Offensive Films Ever Made

There are really no words to describe how disgraceful and offensive the trailer is for Charlie Sheen’s “9/11.” We know you shouldn’t necessarily judge an entire movie based on the trailer, but that motto doesn’t apply for a drama that turns the tragedy of September 11, 2001 into a survival thriller and uses the impending collapse of the towers as a ticking-time clock against which your main characters must escape if they want to live.

Sheen’s involvement with such tragedy exploitation is hardly surprising given his career nosedive in recent years, but what exactly co-stars Whoopi Goldberg and Gina Gerhson saw in this material remains to be seen. Movies like “United 93” and “World Trade Center” have used the tragedy of 9/11 to tell real stories of American heroism. Sheen’s “9/11” turns the event into a disaster thriller.

I'm surprised marky mark isn't in this..

Doesn't he have first rights on starring in shitty real life disaster movies?

This movie needs the Rock scaling the side of the building to rescue them.

What's offensive about this trailer is that there is someone who has a real job in Hollywood getting paid good money who felt he had to write into the trailer "based on real events."

We need this, we need this disclaimer in the trailer?

Lmao, I love the part of Whoopi Goldberg telling firefighters they can't use the elevators like they don't already know that shite.

What a load of shite. They have a 9/11 conspiracy theorist star in this bullshite.

And by the way, there is no more surefire way to determine if a movie is going to be a total piece of shite than the following quote "based on actual events". The Lord of the Rings was based on actual events. Saying that you're "basing something on actual events" is fricking ridiculous since almost all naratives are based on some actual events, especially since no one but crazy people like Charlie Sheen question if 9/11 was an actual event. Pan's Labyrinth was based on actual events in the Spanish Civil War, but you don't see halfway decent film makers saying that shite.

Anyone who pays to see this movie should be ashamed of themselves. In an otherwise so far so good year for movies, shite like this should be shunned and we should tar and feather anyone who is a part of shite like this.

Meh. Outside of the fact that it looks like a lifetime movie with b-list actors, I didn't see anything "highly offensive".

Tell that to the families of 9/11 victims. I'd be extremely fricking offended if they had a 9/11 conspiracy theorist starring in a 9/11 film. On second thought why am I saying "I would be offended", because I absolutely am offended by it. This is simply tasteless and everyone involved should be publically ridiculed and shamed.

Marion Cotillard was initially going to be in Anne Hathaway's role in Interstellar, but Nolan immediately canned her once he found out her opinions on the Moon Landing being a conspiracy. This is much worse than that.

People were sensitive about Pearl Harbor and we still let Michael Bay make a movie about it.

And it fricking sucked, it was offensive, and Michael Bay still owes all of America a public apology for it.

WTF is highly offensive about this?

It's not any different than United 93. They both are taking advantage of the 9-11 story movie plot. The difference is Charlie Sheen ruffles the critics with his acting and United 93 had no one of relevance in the film

United 93 told the true story of one of the most heroic events in American history. I posted this in another thread but this is basically Sharknado with 9/11 as a backdrop, it will and should be pulled. I want to say who in the hell would actually agree to this but then again it's not like Charlie, Whoopi, and Gina Gershon are known for their stable mental states.
