I bought a Pioneer Elite VSX-30 model receiver but am having problems with the 3d effect of the TV. Is there a specific HDMI input I need to use or are they all equal? I have the 1.4 HDMI cables run from the Blu-Ray to the receiver, the receiver to the TV. I'm not sure if only 1 HDMI input works for 3d or what the issue is. I have looked through the manual and can't find anything stating I need to turn the option on. Any advice / help? Thanks.

Dumb question I know, but what are you using for source material? 3-D Blu-ray?

Yep 3d blu-ray. There are some games on ESPN 3D that will be coming on that I'd like to watch when I return from this business trip and was hoping to have some solutions to try by the time I get back.

Another dumb question, do you have a 3d tv?

Edit: If yes, are your 3d channels working, just not blu-ray?

Sorry, not sure where to tell to even start then. Good luck though, it is probably something simple. My Gramps has 3d with Direct TV, and it has 3 or 4 full time 3d channels. I'd first see if the 3d is working at all, may be a tv setting. You did have the glasses turned on, right? Then, I would troubleshoot the Receiver/ Blu Ray. That probably doesn't help you much though. If you weren't watching 3d programing, obviously it would not have had an effect. However, even with "3d" blu-ray discs, I'm not sure if they are necessarily the new technology, unless advertised as being so. If I were you, I would research that online.

Lastly, as long as you got HDMI 1.4, it should be able to handle the 3d data. It seems more likely that the programing was either not 3d or it is a TV setting.

ETA: Did the 3d blu-rays come with the old style glasses?

quote:

Existing Blu-ray and DVD discs in 3D, such as "Coraline" and "Journey to the Center of the Earth," contain versions of the films (and often a couple pairs of colored glasses) in the old anaglyph style, and so cannot deliver full-color, high-resolution 3D. The best way to differentiate between the new ("full HD") and the old ("anaglyph") 3D Blu-ray discs is to look for the official 3D Blu-ray logo.

Thanks for the help, this is definitely a start. I'll check out the glasses as they came with the MOnsters v Aliens movie in the 3D starter kit that was thrown in with the purchase of the TV.
