Thrawn by Timothy Zahn — April 11th

Looking forward to this. As an avid reader of the EU, I believe Disney really pissed off the writers with the canon wipe as evidenced by the relatively unknown writers doing pre FA canon works and how SHITTY the books were. (Aftermath had to be written by a 12 year old girl.) Zahn, Kevin Anderson and others are supposed to be having books come out, so thats good news. And very glad Thrawn has found his way back.

Ernie Cline ought to have a new book out soon. I know he signed a deal for a third, and Spielbergs Ready Player One is supposed to be out end of the year.

Can't wait!

Also hoping for the 4th Locke Lamora novel, but Scott Lynch is freaking slow. Same goes for Patrick Rothfuss' Kingkiller Chronicles.

Figured as much. Although, there may be a good reason it wasn't published. Guess we'll see soon enough.

Yeah y'all beat me on the Chricton one.

Hey, Tolkien still has books coming out. So why not Chrichton?

Reasonably certain that will be done this year. They are already deeply in the editing process and it would have came out a few months ago if not for Lynch shutting down for a few months. Pretty sure its on pace to be out in 2017.

Rothfuss gives no updates whatsoever and recently threw a massive hissy fit when he livestreamed himself working on the book and fans enhanced the screen and were able to discern a page of text regarding Bast. He was a real bitch about it apparently.

Not sure when we will ever see that.

I'm going to read it anyway but was there really a transcript for this book (by Crichton), I heard it was communication (letters, email) between Crichton and others and then "filled in" after his death?

ETA: Prolly 10 on that list I'll read

Spoke to soon regarding Lynch/Thorn of Emberlain. Directly from him back on Dec 7:

THORN needs an ending written (the ending is outlined in depth, just not yet written) and some targeted rewrites in three or four specific areas, based on vexing but extremely astute criticism from my agent, my genius wife, and a trusted friend. This is my primary job for December.

It is heavily hinted at that the fight between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Maul on Tattooine will come straight out of "Old Wounds".

Same for Jim Butcher.

Peace Talks (Dresden Files #16) has been in the works for what feels like forever.

Wouldn't be surprised to get the third stormlight book this year. First draft is completed, so it will depend on editing/rewrites, but it could be in before Christmas.
