On Friday, several press events were held at Lucasfilm headquarters in San Francisco, including Q & A's on Twitter and Facebook.

In addition, it appears select members of the media were given the opportunity to watch 28 minutes of the film at Skywalker Ranch.

ROGUE ONE footage we saw was opening 10 min or so plus a few more complete scenes and a montage of other stuff from 2nd and 3rd act.

With all the talk of ROGUE ONE reshoots and troubled production...Doesn't matter...footage was really awesome and can't wait to see more

Saw 28 minutes of #RogueOne. So far, so very good. Gritty as hell. K-2SO is hilarious. And the emotion is going to be strong with this one.

I've been very skeptical of this film so this is promising.

ETA: Weintraub from Collider just tweeted this. He's a pretty reliable critic.

Spoke to someone who may have seen Rogue One. They said top 3 Star Wars films were Empire, Star Wars and then Rogue One. Hope that's true.

ETA: Seven Minutes of Christopher Nolan’s ‘Dunkirk’ Will Screen Before ‘Rogue One’ in 70mm IMAX

quote:

We have learned from multiple sources that a seven-minute prologue for Christopher Nolan‘s new film Dunkirk will play in front of select 70mm IMAX showings of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Hit the jump to learn more about the Dunkirk IMAX preview. Last month we reported that over a dozen IMAX theaters around the world would be presenting Gareth Edwards’ Star Wars standalone movie in 70mm IMAX 2D film. While the movie was not shot using IMAX’s signature 70mm film cameras, Lucasfilm and Disney is presenting the film in the format in 15 theaters around the world. And for those of you lucky to see Rogue One: A Star Wars Story in this format, we have learned that Warner Bros is including a seven-minute long prologue for Christopher Nolan’s upcoming war film Dunkirk in front of the movie. Rogue One is a gritty war film, so this seems like a perfect fit.

I had a weird feeling from the very beginning that this could be an incredible film which stands out from the rest.

Some may call my "feeling" the force, but who knows.

I've seen plenty of movies with good openings and 28 minutes of good stuff that were horrible overall.

If it is successful, will they try to franchise it? They do everything else. There are no stand alone movies anymore in this genre that are successful. You'd have to go back in time, though, and create parallel story lines. There's a lot there, but not sure how to do that without it becoming ridiculous.

Of course, that's why I said promising. I just liked that they've mentioned gritty, violent, etc. My concern is that Disney would play it safe like the Marvel films. I hope I'm wrong.

No, they've actually talked a lot about that recently. This is a stand alone film and there will be no sequels.

I'm guessing well get Cader in other stories, but there isn't supposed to be a direct sequel to this.

I'm still a bit concerned considering the writers are SJWs who came out and said the Empire is all white men because white men are evil.

I understand who and what Disney is today, but if this is the direction SW is taking, I don't really want to play anymore.

A New Hope is the sequel. Rogue One is basically Star Wars 3.5

The critics raved about Force Awakens as well and that movie was a slap in the face to Star Wars fans.

Vader pre-Rouge One on the Jedi hunt would be good though I doubt they would give him a stand alone movie

That's the point he was relaying. That there won't be the creation of a sequel for this specific film because it's wedged into the universe already.

Its going to suck

They are going to whore out Star Wars like they do with Super Hero movies. There are a billion Super Hero movies out there every year. Watered down product.

I thought there was talk of a future Darth stand alone film, showing his time of first getting used to the suit and hunting Jedi.
