Calling them the NO Gays is less gay than these options.

I do not understand why our teams don't use the moniker Crescent City instead of New Orleans.
Crescent City Pelicans sounds so badass.

I've always liked names that don't end in "s". Call them the Neutral Ground.

New Orleans Battle would be my submission.
The Battle of NO was the final major and most one-sided battle of the War of 1812

Agreed. Not that he should care, but im guessing there is some kind of agreement they can't have another sports team in the area named the pelicans.
I said New Orleans Crescents and standby that as a solid name

I agree and said as much last time it came up on here. The last thing you want is a bland minor league team name. Baby Cakes is so absurd it is good.

The Zephyrs aren't changing their name. It's a publicity stunt to get attention. Nobody cares about the actual team but people lose their minds when it comes to name changes especially in New Orleans.
Although the New Orleans Coons is a good one.

I had to lookup the reason for the "name change" and this is what I found: LINK
quote:
By this time next year, the New Orleans Zephyrs, Triple-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins, will not be the New Orleans Zephyrs. They will be the New Orleans … TBDs -- and that's where you come in.
On Friday, the team announced that it will change its name for the 2017 season, as "Zephyrs" refers to the famous Denver passenger train (where the franchise started in 1955), and not something that has a whole lot to do with the team's current city. So, the team is looking for a new name more befitting its home, and it's taking suggestions. According to the team's website:
quote:
"Starting Monday, fans are encouraged to go to zephyrsbaseball.com and submit their nomination for the team's new identity, along with an explanation of why they feel their suggestion perfectly embodies New Orleans. The top choices will be entered into a contest to vote for the new team name, with the winner being announced next fall."
Feel free to submit your favorite New Orleans-themed mascot idea, like the New Orleans Ghosts (in honor of the city's ghost tours, since the Casper Ghosts are no longer with us) or a throwback idea like the New Orleans Jazz.
But, with some inspiration from the Double-A Montgomery Biscuits, we're going to suggest what would be the most appetizing of all Minor League mascots:
The New Orleans Beignets.
