Zachary High School tied West Monroe in a scrimmage last night at LA College in Pineville. This is a very good projection as to how good Zachary can be this year.

What are your teams to look out for this year in high school football?

Not sure if serious.

There was a thread a while back about the 7 on 7 tournament at LSU. I said that Zachary would go far and everyone laughed. They went to the championship game vs St. Aug.

7 on 7 and preseason scrimmages (including jamborees) are not good indicators for a team's potential in the regular season IMO.

Zachary will be good and probably win district, but they will not be out after the round of 16.

Slightly different take on the scrimmage.

In the run drill, where offensive line and back fields go against the front seven of the defense, WM scored on 9 of the 10 plays. I think Zachary scored once.

WM's defense was pretty dominate. Zachary had some positive things happen but they were few and far between.

One of my good friends coaches the secondary at Zachary and he was very pleased with the scrimmage. They tied the scrimmage part. He said they have a ton of potential, just gotta develop the guys.

From what I heard the drill where they both put the 1st team 11 on the field they both scored a TD and kicked a FG.

I wasn't in Pineville for the scrimmage but for some other business. So I only got to stop by for a little bit. WM totally dominated the drills & 7 in 7. And in the OL/RB Vs DL/LBs, WM destroyed Zachary on both sides of the ball. I had to leave before game simulation, but from what I hear, that portion was pretty even. Being the most important part that should be a good sign for Zachary.

Dont beleive the hype, If Zachary palyed in the District that Catholic is this yr, they would be lucky to come in 5th. I was there .West Monroe destroyed them. Zachary needs some damn coaches who knows how to coach! Yes i know its wiener and carrier. Horrible! I dont blame the boys , The Broncos were out played and out coached lastnight. Now they probaly will do ok in the weakest 5A district in the state.

Talked to one of the coaches today. He said WM just mauled them in the 7 on 7/redzone/controlled scrimmage. Then they played 1 quarter of timed ball and it was pretty even. Said the kids just kinda relaxed after the first portion. WM is still looking for someone to replace Tyler Cain.

Dehnam is going to be pretty good and Central will be really good and the only thing holding them back from being great is a defensive back field

Central vs. Zachary will be a shootout thing year unlike last years 16-9 OT game

Agree with the weak district. Nothing they can do about that. They do play Catholic, Thibodaux, and Dutchtown out of district. We will see.

I do give them props, they are playing some tough non district games that may help them get better if they dont get all beat up.
