What this does is make him rotate his head down to look at the ball on the tee to hit it. This will train him to follow the ball in with his eyes and head when he faces a live pitch.

I wanted to send a quick update and thanks to you for this suggestion. After just a couple of sessions of doing this for a few minutes, something clicked in his head and he was back to normal. He hit a couple in a scrimmage last night and the smile on his face was priceless with the bounce back in his step.
