I meant he isnt what the scouts thought he would be yet and still has potential to turn into that. 3 yrs ago, you couldnt find a scout that would say he would hit less than 45 hrs in a season. He hasnt done that once yet.

Seriously?

1. He hasn't played a full season yet

2. He is 24 years old

How many players have hit 40+ HRs between their age 21-24 seasons?

Only a few guys have even done that over the past few years and their names are Cabrera, Bautista, Howard, Pujols and Prince

most scouts would still tell you there isnt a player in the majors with more power.

he has 2 of the 4 longest HRs in the MLB this year. Including the furthest

So because he can hit the ball farther than, let's say Mike Trout, he's a better power hitter? What does HR distance have to do with power production?

And you consider Stanton on that level right now? I specifically said he wasnt ELITE YET.

Guys, Im not anti-Giancarlo Stanton lol. I think he's one of the best young players in the game and he prlly has top 5 trade value in all of baseball. That doesnt mean he is a top 5 power hitter in the game yet is all im saying.

Yes he has more power than mike trout

Is he as good of overal hitter? No

More power, yes.

What does distance have to do with it? Well when you hit the ball far consistently, you tend to him more HRs than other players

I didnt ask if he had more power than Trout. I asked if he was a better power hitter. He's not.

How is trout a better power hitter?

You care to look at their HR's per AB?

Uh, yeah.

21 y/o- He was 2nd in the NL in AB/HR in 2011 (6th in MLB)

22 y/o- Led the MLB in 2012. Also led in SLG%

23 y/o- 4th in the NL last season (12th in MLB)

9th fastest EVER to 100 HR

10th youngest EVER to 100 HR

And the dude plays in a pitcher friendly park.

Yeaah I think some people are downplaying the fact that at 24 years old Stanton currently has 125 career HRs. Let's say he does finish this season hitting 40 then that's 157 before he turns 25 in November.

If you question his ability as a power hitter. Go find the highlight of him last night crushing a outside off speed pitch to opposite field.

my top 5 would probably be

trout/skaggs
giancarlo/fernandez
harper/stras
cutch/cole
simmons/teheran

i might have harper/stras second if harper was healthy

Johnny Cueto?

Since 2011 pitchers with 400IP Cueto is 2nd best in ERA+ (161) to Kershaw (168). That's when he's healthy. He's elite just not somebody I would want to start a team with for the future.

The correct answer is the Marlins

Mark Prior was elite when he was healthy, too.

400 IP? The Kershaw, Verlanders, Cliff Lees of the world have thrown almost 700 innings in that span.

Cueto is no good if he isn't healthy. He has thrown 200 innings once in 6 seasons.
