I mean they look like real contenders for the NLC.

Is this the year?

Pitching and bullpen will ultimately decide how good this team is in 2015

I still think with all the bona fide prospects we have on the farm we could afford to part with one of them for some veteran pitching

This is only if we are still somewhere near contention around the deadline.

No it's just a product of cubs media bias and overhyped prospect. Or whatever folks were saying when cubs fans said this team had potential.

But it's still early and I still think wc2 is a bit of a stretch this year but an achievable goal. Which isn't bad for being a year ahead of schedule.

relax, it was a win vs the Pirates against a pitcher on the back end of their rotation

So, there are things that are helping the Cubs trend upward for 2015. One thing is this...they are actually a way better baseball team than they were a year ago. They are playing good defense, putting together some outstanding at bats and are loaded with talent.

Another thing is the Cardinals losing Chris Carpenter (I meant to say Adam Wainwright here, but I'm going to leave it so everyone can make fun of me) for the year. That will definitely help the Cubs's chances.

Another thing is the Brewers losing Jonathan Lucroy for about 8 weeks...and that the Brewers are dreadful.

Another thing is that the Reds will not have Homer Bailey for a long time.

And then there's the Pirates. The Pirates, Cubs and Cardinals should really be the front runners for the NL Central this year. If the Cubs don't have sustained injuries (Justin Grimm and Neil Ramirez are already on the DL as well as Tommy La Stella) and can keep their pitching in tact, they will at least have a chance to compete for the NL Central or a Wild Card this year.

That is an incredible jump over last year and should get Joe Maddon Manager of the Year.

But, it's only been 19 games. A lot can still go wrong.

Optimism at its best-

Cub threads in April or Browns threads in September?
