Edited...but I'm still right. Carpenter is lost for the year.

Considering how shitty the past few Aprils have been for the cubs, and especially last year, I think you need to amend that to March for the cubs.

Hell it's been since 2008 that the cubs have been .500 or above in April.

The Reds chances were shot when Barry Larkin was ruled out for the season

I still think the Cubbies will be at or just above 500 this year behind the cards and pirates and then really put it together next year. We will see though

This team just feels different. They have been coming behind late. The meat of the order is producing. Kris Bryant still has another level that he will hit soon hopefully. Pitching has been pretty good and Lester still could be a lot better. Things could go bad quickly though. I still would like another top half of the rotation arm to feel better about things but I guess you have to be in contention at the deadline to make that happen.

Wouldn't count on that, getting a TOR arm at the deadline that is. They'll get another one in the offseason. I'd expect the only deadline moves to be complimentary pieces such as another OF and bullpen help.

ETA: also USA Today says Queen Diana is supposed to be in DC sometime this year

ETA2: a 5-game sweep? when did the Series become best of 9?

I can understand bullpen but Soler, Fowler, Coghlan, and Lake with Bryant possibly playing there when Baez returns. I don't understand moving prospects for an OF right now.

They wouldn't be. Talking about a bench piece/4th OF type.

Unless of course the Rockies want to deal Gonzalez.

I'm also not putting any stock in lake or baez until one of them contributes meaningfully at teh major league level.
