Most kids worth a shite in football don't start until 7th or 8th grade anyway

Probably because they're too big to play in the Pop Warner/Pee Wee leagues unless they play up a division or two.

My parents wouldn't let me play football and look how I turned out... Seriously, let your kids play football.

offers little reward in the long term outside of some good memories. Good memories can be made just about anywhere

100% disagree. Football is more than just "good memories". Football teaches discipline and team work more than any sport I've been involved in.

Individual sports ... nice hobbies.

95% of people's football career ends in high school. How many people are getting life long head injuries in high school?

I agree! I told an African American friend to have his really athletic son play lax and then make sure he applies to Johns Hopkins, Duke or Williams

D1 Lacrosse for one of those NE schools is pretty much a golden ticket to a nice wall street job.

Too Many

But most important, the study showed that the average linear accelerations resulting from the impact of a high school football tackle exceeded those that occur at the college level. Impacts to the top of the head had the greatest speed and force.

Among high school players, blows to the front of the helmet were about 10 percent more common and carried three more “Gs” of force compared to college players. The study authors said differences in physical maturity, neck strength and endurance among high school athletes may be a factor in the increased injury. They noted that the comparison group of college athletes weighed about 30 pounds more, on average, than the high school students but were only about 1.2 inches taller. That may result in a “more developed musculature system that is better able to control head motion after impact,” the researchers noted.

You know how many of the starters in today's match against Colombia were black? 5 out of 11. Granted most were born to black Amercian soldiers and white German women.

You missed the line where I said "Research is ongoing." There is no study to link, yet. At least not that I am aware of.

Due to recent events in my life brain trauma, and research on it, has become more important in my life.

But, let's be honest. The results of the study will be defended by die hard supporters of football.
