Would Lewis have won? Probably because of his length of nothing else but Tyson damn sure had a better than average chance.

I think prime Tyson would have won, remember Lewis lost his title when he got knocked out by a crackhead.

Buster was not hitting cus d'amato.

Tyson is not the only big hitter to catch one and disappear from center stage.

Sonny liston.
Grady hatton

Grady hatton massacred the champ with intensity and power. But he was knocked out soon enough.

Clearly you don't know what a shitshow Team Tyson was leading up to and during that fight

I just watched a replay of that fight last week. Even in the prefight the announcers were saying how disinterested Tyson looked and how it appeared he didn't even want to be there, before the first bell to start the fight. Man, was that some premonition. Buster was game that night and fought well but that was not the Mike Tyson we had seen before. He was a mess.

Uh, Cus dying wasn't the crux...Cus died and Tyson then went on to dominate and win the Heavyweight title.

Regardless of Cus, Tyson was already a mess...trying to rape Teddy Atlas' 10 year old daughter...Atlas put a gun to Tyson's head and quit.

Tyson lost the guy that was making him the technician that he was in his early fights.

And Tyson would never have been viewed as the greatest heavyweight ever because of the tomato cans he fought and the terrible era he was in.

But if he hadn't met Don King...not Cus dying...Don King Tyson might have had a more impressive resume and opinion with the public who saw him get exposed and then crumble from then on out and then everyone re-evaluated his earlier career.

I don't think anyone will pass Ali up because of how big of a cultural icon he was.

Cus let Tyson get away with whatever he wanted because he saw Tyson as his last chance to make a champion.

Cus did no favors for Tyson in being mature and not self-destructive...

What Tyson was taught early on - that actions don't have consequences - is what made Tyson fall from the top...and with or without Cus, that doesn't change because it was already taught to him.

Jacobs dying was the more crushing thing as it allowed Don King to come in and control the life and people around Tyson.

I forget the exact story but apparently he partied in Japan all week and the guys running his corner were complete clowns who had no clue what they were doing during the fight

It was a relative of Teddys wife, she was 11. Tyson was 15 at the time. Not sure if could be called an attempted rape, but he was trying to get a bj. Tyson talks about in his book.

Brewster against W. Klitschko.

No one was knocked Brewster out that night. Wlad literally punched himself out tatooing Brewster's forehead and just fell over.

But absolutely destroyed Tua who was supposed to be a Tyson clone...and let's not forget the dismantling of Tyson later. Lennox is an overall superior athlete and more technically sound boxer. Steward > D'Amato

ETa: Lewis V Tua People forget how fricking good the OX was.

You are comparing Tyson to David Tua?
Who was Tua best victory? Rahman, whose only noteable win was against Lewis.

That would be like comparing Lewis to Tyrell Briggs because he was tall.

That comparison isn't an original. Everyone was comparing Tua and Tyson back then.

Lewis avenged all his losses. And would have worked Tyson just like he did Tua. He was a better, larger athlete. Had devastating power, command of the ring, and a decent chin -- despite what people said after the McCall and Rahman loss. Could Tyson have caught him, but I say Lennox wind 4/5 matches.

No way. Tyson also got knocked out by a mental case who gained about 500 pounds and quit the sport because he hated it after knocking out Tyson.

Once the fear of Tyson was puliverized and evaporated...he was done. That fight with Lennox was pathetic...Tyson had no reach, couldn't touch him...a year more in the gym isn't going to change that.

Tyson was a bully - and once the bully got socked in the mouth, everyone else could beat his arse too. I believe when Rooney and Atlas - his trainers say that Tyson was all about intimidation...with a scared little kid inside and if he couldn't knock you out in the first few rounds, he'd quit...because he wasn't the best boxer.
