Would pro sports be more entertaining if they had a weekly ranking system...

I am at a restaurant having dinner and mildly watching the Rockets game against Memphis.
I know the Rockets are the leagues current dumpster fire and we would be lucky to win three in a row.
But I have no idea if Memphis is any good. Now I know I could search it on my phone, while I peruse TD.com, but I don't want to read up on it.
Having a weekly ranking of the best teams would immediacy fix this. I would know just by looking at the TV.
I would rather have some one with relative NBA intelligence tell me that Memphis is pretty good or pretty bad.
I think this could go a long way for the causal fan like myself. Even if it is mostly BS.
Hell I even think the players would react to such a ranking. They would get
More amped up at the opportunity to beat a "top ranked team", even tho everyone already thinks they are really good.

Cross sport rankings. Who's worse Pelicans or Titans?

I think the "standings" are what you are looking for.
YOU ARE WHAT YOUR RECORD SAYS YOU ARE.

I wouldn't mind a top 5 but nothing extensive

Almost every sports website has weekly NBA/NFL power rankings.

They've been both this season. Not a whole lot in between.
Missing ZBo tonight, so this early lead is a bit of a surprise so far.

Literally everyone has power rankings these days.

NFL would be more entertaining with some diverse offenses. They're pretty much all the same with some superstars here and there making the difference. The 1st through 3rd quarters of an NFL regular season game are a bore unless it's "your" team. Too many penalties, running game is hamstrung, too many commercial interruptions.
NBA don't care. NHL don't care because half the league gets in the playoffs. MLB has been boring for a while. I'd have no relief pitchers for a game unless the starter is injured.

One reason they have it in college is there are so many teams and not enough games to separate them. Plus football didn't have a playoff until last year so the polls meant something.
The Vikings are playing the Packers this weekend. Nobody is going to be more interested if you billed it as #5 Minnesota vs. #7 Green Bay.

Then put that number next to their team name in the on screen scoreboard

The question is where would Bama be ranked in the NFL? I say probably around 8.

Weekly rankings are great as long as they don't actually mean anything

it's called STANDINGS

The NFL is the only league I'd be interested in seeing it. A top 10 would be kinda cool.

It's hilarious how incorrect you are. I don't know how any logical person could watch the Pats, Cardinals, Seahawks, and Bills offenses and think they are similar.
