I've always said if the receiver or coach or anyone else on the field for that matter jumps in the refs face and complains and cries for a flag, it should negate the possible penalty. Or result in one for them (see NBA tech rule).

u ever been brought down in that manner huh?! there is no defending that shite. total defenseless player once he's caught. that move can break your back, hip, knees and ankle. i can't think of another single move that can do as much to a player

If I had to pick just one thing, it would be the defensive player "causing" the offensive player to false start, resulting in an offsides penalty. It kills discipline for the line.
I think this is actually a situation where either way it kind of sucks. Before the rule, defensive players would just come fricking charging at the line, and human instinct would take over. Since there is a grey area between encroachment, unabated, and offsides (where defenders can get back onsides before the snap), you got the situation where a defender could get pretty close to knocking the shite out of you, you protect yourself, but you get called for a false start.
Now, offensive lines guys are baiting the defenders, but at least this way its a bit more fair and safe I guess. No one is going to get crushed by a O-lineman coming out of his stance "accidentally"

In the event of a blocked punt, a player on the kicking team bats the ball forward. A flag is thrown and instead of the receiving team having possession where the ball was batted, the penalty requires a re-kick. If the receiving team declines they gain possession from where the ball was batted to or where the ball went out of bounds from the bat. So batting the ball is an advantage. Terrible rule

"Half the distance" to the goal, going both ways
WTF is the point?
Why not just go as far as possible...if you are on your own 8 yard line and commit a 10 or 15 yard penalty, ball should go to the 1 inch line of the goal
Or if you are the the 11 yard line in the red zone and a team commits a 15 yard penalty, ball should also be placed at the 1 inch line
ETA: this is not an NFL rule, more of a shitty football rule

Good point - definitely unfair that two teams commit the same foul and one is penalized half as many yds than the other.

I have been watching the NFL since SB 3. I can't think of a good rule that they have added since that time. Can anyone name a good rule they have added?

I think the half the distance rule is ok except I think they should move the first down marker out the number of yards not penalized...for example...team is on their own ten yd line and commits holding, move ball back 5. (Half the distance) and then add 5 yds to get a first down...
The rule I think is stupid is on punt coverage...why does the punt team need to "control" the ball before it goes in the end zone? On the rest of the field wherever it's touched by the coverage team is where the ball is spotted...why isn't that good enough around the end zone?

But what is the point? I don't even understand where "half the distance" came from in the first place.

Well if it's at the 12 yard line, what should something that usually draws 15 yards be? Automatically at the 1?

I like that they removed the force out rule on passes. There was no way that in every case they could definitively decide whether a guy could have come down in bounds.

Pass interference at the spot of the foul. I can't deal with it. QB under throws a deep route, WR stops running, CB bumps him, 40 yard penalty.
PI in the end zone is such a judgement call that basically gives that team 7pts.

Yes. Why should it only be 6 yards?
It makes more sense to move it back 11 or 11 and a half than only 6
It's unfair because as it is now, I'm your scenario the team commits a 15 yard penalty, only goes back 6. Next play defense commits a 10 yard penalty and it goes up the full 10 yards.

QB can intentionally ground the ball if he is outside the tackles(sickening)
A 'defenseless' QB rolls 2 steps to his right or left & can spike the ball into the ground with no loss of yards nor penalty. The defense gets pressure on the helpless QB & the Offense gets a 'mulligan'.
Hate it . The QB it seems is defenseless in the pocket & even when he is a 'runner' & is chased from the pocket by a hardworking defense.
Instead of making a football play 2 steps outside the pocket he simply spikes it & get a do over. Complete BS.
