Leaf sank a franchise, on and off the field. Russell, while a bust came aboard a sinking ship.

Brooks was a really really good qb until he got his contract, then he quit.

If you're talking about a qb with some signifigant playing time, how about Quincy Carter?

Ryan Leaf. Not just bad but also a douche.

CORRECT

quote:

After winning his first two games, the proverbial Leaf hit the fan. His third game found him completing one out of fifteen passes for four yards and fumbling three times against the Chiefs. In his next seven games he threw 2 touchdown passes and 13 interceptions and was benched. After ten games his passer rating was 39. And who can forget Leaf's off the field antics such as screaming at a reporter in the locker room after a game, "Just fricking don't talk to me, all right??!! Knock it off!! Just knock it off!!" And his having to be restrained after lunging at a heckling fan at a practice session. Two coaches had to escort the hot head off the field after that incident. The next year he totally missed because of a shoulder injury but still made headlines when he got into a shouting match with GM Bobby Beathard. He then went on to lie about an injury so he could get out of practice and go play golf. Later, while he was "rehab-ing his shoulder, he was caught on video playing flag football at the beach and the Chargers sued him for breach of contract. In 2000, Leaf started the first two games but threw only one touchdown to five interceptions. Following even more poor performances and injuries, he was released by the Chargers with a grand total of four wins in three years as a starter. Leaf was claimed by the Buccaneers who later released him, then he tried a comeback with the Cowboys and lastly the Seahawks, where he did what he does best; quit the team just before training camp with no explanation, later citing injuries as his reason for retirement. He is now known as the biggest draft day bust, not only in the history of the NFL, but in the history of organized sports. His career QB rating is 50.0 and his touchdown to interception ratio is 14/36. Over 2 interceptions for every touchdown thrown! He is now the golf coach at West Texas A&M University. Imagine that. I wonder if any of his team members feign injury to go play football?

Can you set some standards?

Must have started x amount of games, taken x amounts of snaps, played x amount of years, etc...

Because without standards the easy answer is every backup who never made it in a game and was cut after 1 year. They are obviously the worst NFL QBs.

Kyle Boller is the worst QB to ever start all 16 games in a NFL season.

I'm not defending Russell as not being a bust, but it he wasn't going to succeed in Oakland. Although he was a big talent, not many people thought he "should" have gone first overall, except the team that took Darius Heyward-Bey in the first round. And the eventually cut ties without him being too big of a problem. Leaf was being compared to Peyton Manning out of college and he was in San Diego two years two long and caused all kinds of problems.
Leaf was a bigger bust, but not by much.

I still think Quincy Carter was the worst long term starting qb of the last twenty years.

Lots of big names in this thread. I'm guessing no one really knows the correct answer because he was probably a terrible 3rd or 4th string qb that none of you have ever heard of. Seriously how could anyone ever know this?

Joe Pisarcik.

Ask older Giants fans.

He caused the invention of the "Victory Formation."

This guy was the #1 overall pick of the 1963 NFL Draft of the Los Angeles Rams: LINK

He was not injured. He merely sucked so much that they tried to keep him in the league by switching his position. He sucked so much that he even failed miserably in the CFL.

Worst #1 overall pick (who didn't die or get injured) ever. Worst #1 overall QB pick ever. Biggest bust EVER.

BOOM!

The answer is JR and all you JR panty-sniffers need to see the light. Staying under the nutsack of JR is a losing position.

JR is the biggest NFL bust ever no matter how y'all want to spin it.
