1. Jack Del Rio, DC WAS. This guy is running a soft cover 4 defense that he's used since the mid-00s when he was in line to be the LSU head coach. He is running a D that has major talent in the front 7 and has sucked for years. How this guy still has any reputation is beyond me. He's terrible, and has been for years.

2. Vance Joseph, DC DEN. He has this rep of being a defensive genius who has all of these different looks and can mold his scheme from drive to drive, but when was the last time he sustained any level of success as a DC? He utterly failed in Arizona. Clearly he failed in Denver. He had one OK year in Miami, where he basically had turnover luck in his favor, and has parlayed that into 5+ years as a failure. He basically has the reputation of a Brian Flores without literally any of the success

3. Peter Carmichael, OC NO. Over his head. Didn't want the job. Can't call plays on gameday with any level of skill or confidence.

4. Matt Canada, OC PIT. What can I say other than he just sucks? He was an OK college OC but has not shown any ability on the NFL level. I will say, of the 4 people I listed, he has the worst talent. PIT WR talent isn't what it once was, and Pickett is garbage. Their OL is meh, and their RBs are below-average. WAS, DEN, and NO all have talent on their respective sides, and PIT is lacking. You put Canada on the Saints and our offense is better. You put Carmichael on the Steelers and it's one of the WOAT offenses.

Honorable mention: Brandon Staley, HC LAC. He doesn't make the list because he technically doesn't qualify. He runs the defense for the Charges and their output is TERRIBLE compared to their talent. Of all the 5 units listed, he has by far the most complete.

Press Taylor (OC, Jags) is going to be on this list if he doesn't improve fast.

Matt Canada, OC PIT.

The worst. Mind-boggling that he's still there getting promotions.

I’m just here to make sure Vance Joseph and Matt Canada are on the list.

Job well done, OP.

Canada and Joseph are easily 1 and 2.

Kafka has been a big disappointment for NYG.

BOB stinks too

Dude keeps falling up. Wasn't good at Indiana or Wisky, gets a lifeline at Pitt, only to stink at LSU. Meh at Maryland then goes up in ranks in NFL

I can't believe Mike Tomlin has the gall to complain about black coaches not getting opportunities and then decides to keep Matt Canada instead of going after Eric Bieniemy last off-season.

That was because of double-digit IQ Orgeron, who didn't understand why we were using so much motion presnap and didn't want to start Myles Brennan. Canada got stubborn and then pissed off Aranda (by not practicing straight up the way Aranda needed/wanted), which was the final straw.

Man I don't know. Watson's performance post-BOB almost made me make a thread stating the opposite.

BOB is an all-time terrible GM but was a good coach.

It's fitting he's back in NE with the GOAT coach who happens to be a below-mediocre GM

Wait...Vance Joseph is the DC for the Broncos? The same Broncos he got fired as a HC a few years ago? Has there ever been a coach that was fired as the Head and came back to the same team as a coordinator?

The Broncos tried it with Fangio before they settled on Joseph.

The sad part is they lost a great, up and coming DC in the process of acquiring Payton

Tim Kelly, OC, TEN. Fired from same position at Houston and becomes assistant under Todd Downey with TEN. Inexplicably promoted to OC after Downey got fired last year.

Pederson needs to take playcalling back quickly. There is absolutely zero flow to their offense compared to last season.

I can't imagine they survive, but I guess they'll have to promote EB.

Howell has looked good this year all things considered, but with his weapons the offense should be better.

Crazy Howell looks so much better than other young QBs drafted so highly the past couple of years. He may never be elite, but he is at least competent in year 2, unlike guys who seem like they can barely hang out (Wilson, Lance, Fields most weeks, etc.)

Any list without Joe Barry is null and void. If I recall correctly at his last 3 teams his defenses have been in the bottom five every year.

Joe Berry was a terrible college coach and somehow keeps failing up. Like if Alex Grinch was suddenly an NFL DC.
