40. Zaxby’s Heart of Dallas Bowl (Dec. 27, Dallas): Army (6-5) vs. North Texas (5-7)
North Texas lost four of its last five, but a good APR score secured the Mean Green a rematch with Army. The Mean Green defeated Army 35-18 on Oct. 22, the first win over Army in five tries. UNT is going to its first bowl since 2013. Army has lost two of its last three with a game against Navy remaining. The Black Knights have not appeared in a bowl since 2010.

North Tex gets a bowl game by virtue of APR. Did you guys know about this?

At risk of being banned. The nccu vs grambling is the worst. Whatever they call that should go away

Some solid logic in those selections.

Army vets are every where, with Ft. Hood being down the road. UNT is obviously not far from Dallas.

I wonder if it will make any money.

What in the living frick are you on about?

FCS is another division and in no way affects FBS bowls.

It's da celebration bowl. It's new, and I for one am ok with it. Allows prominent and traditionally black schools a chance in the national spotlight.

If it's on tv it will make money, schools probably not after travel, per diem and ticket sales. If ESPN can pull 2's on a bowl game, no matter where or who is in it, they will spend money to sponsor it or even own it.

Army has 2 FCS wins but great road win at Temple. Win at Wake is not bad either.

The bowl system is watered down and needs to get rid of at least 10 bowls. 6-6 teams should not be "rewarded" with a bowl game and certainly not 5-7 teams. Nearly 2/3rds of all teams go to a bowl....that is ridiculous.

I'm fine with *some* 6-6 teams getting in but it depends on the quality of wins they have, and how they finished down the stretch.

I am completely against any 5-7 team being "rewarded". I don't buy the "-but it's more football!" argument. I refuse to believe that many people will sit and watch this crappy game.

Why do we seem to add another bowl game or two a year then? TV driven profits, the Magnolia bowl certainly isn't making money of tickets sales.

Coaches will usually take any bowl offer just for the extra practice time alone. Some schools will see a bit of branding boost, not enough imo to lose money. All about tv money.

There's a moratorium on new bowl games I think through 2018. My guess is the NCAA is hoping a few of these games die on their own. But as long as some corporate sponsor is willing to shell out and they have a place to play...

I agree it's too many, but it is what it is. Getting the playoff right (if you fall in the camp that thinks it needs work) is way more important than these games.
