Not surprising

2015 had the Mets

2016 had the Cubs

2017 had the Dodgers

2018 had the Red Sox/Dodgers

All big market teams, and Cubs/Dodgers/Red Sox have nationwide fanbases

This year has the Nationals which have no history at all and have only been in DC for 15 years with no national fanbase, and the Astros which are a dislikable team with hateable players and a regional fanbase

Not surprising-MLB sucks at marketing. The day before the series they have their own networks discussing what went wrong with the yankees rather than profiling the upcoming world series which was featuring 6 of the top 15 or so starting pitchers in the last 2 years and 3 who are as close to sure fire hall of fame as exists for starting pitchers in current times. The product itself is good IMO but I dont blame the general public for not knowing

To be fair, they were going against the NBA opener between New Orleans and Toronto. Lol.

The TV playoff package is idotic... why would anyone care about any of these teams if you can't find them on TV when the casual baseball fan interest begins to peak.

MLB does a horrible job of promoting their product.

NHL has been super guilty of this for many years.

If you have a any knowledge of baseball over the past five years and Cole v Scherzer Strasburg vs Verlander and Corbin vs Greinke doesnt get you excited then you hate baseball. The AL cy young winner vs the NLs best pitcher for 5 years, Stras who has been a top 15 or so guy for near decade and crazy post season era vs former MVP pitching in arguably his best 2-3 year period and sure fire hall of famer vs the most sought after starting pitcher in this last offseason.

And thats not including guys like altuve soto etc.

Its a really good matchup and the teams comprise probably the highest collection of individual stars out of any possible combo that made the post season.

The Nationals are a garbage team who no one wants to watch and the Astros aren’t a huge draw either.
