Maybe it's the Laker fan in me, but I'll be surprised Ainge gets both

What I'm getting out of this is that the plan is to Sign Gordon, then trade for George in that order

I assume that sequence is to land Hayward first, then trade for PG.

PG may not be there by that time...then again every rumor has been shot down so probably an equal chance he is still there.

are they going to build an offer around Tatum or next year's Brooklyn/Lakers pick for George?

For salary-cap purposes, Boston wants a Hayward commitment before it can finalize a trade for George and secure the most dynamic free-agent coup in franchise history, league sources said.

For Boston, here’s the hitch: While Indiana believes Boston can offer the best possible package, the Pacers may be unwilling to wait until the start of July free agency on Boston’s timetable and could turn toward making a deal elsewhere for George, league sources told The Vertical.

The Celtics have a growing confidence they could sign George to a contract extension, and keep him from leaving to his predetermined free-agent destination of the Los Angeles Lakers, league sources told The Vertical. Boston’s belief that it can make George more than a one-year rental is fueling the franchise’s willingness to part with a significant package of assets, league sources said. Indiana could potentially allow George and his representation to speak to potential suitors about a contract extension should a trade happen, but that permission hasn’t been granted yet, league sources told The Vertical.

Is this not incredibly well known already?

They have to sign Hayward first, which is why they couldn't make a trade before the draft. I guess they could have agreed in principle, but finalized it later, but it would have had to wait until after free agency started.

I assumed so, unless Woj means there is actually something in the works with some kind of agreement between PG and BOS.

I know it's obvious, but damn, that Boston team would be scary if they could pull this off.

Would love this.

Would be absolutely hilarious to me if Warriors only get 1 and lose Klay to LAL.

Yes, but what Boston is saying they need a commitment first from Hayward before they make any pursuit for George. So the only way they trade for George is if Gordon is on board

Not true.

Boston doesn't want to trade for George until they have their decision from the FAs they are going after. They would still go after PG if they don't land Hayward/Griffin etc.

They want to wait till after because that's the only way they get PG + one of the FAs
