Spain is white guys so what's your point

Russians only come to the NBA if they're guaranteed a spot. Otherwise they stay home with their own culture and make a good living.

Basketball isn't even popular in Russia but we've had several NBAers

actually I did
No, you didn't. I specifically asked:
"what Russian in the past 10 years has been good enough to join the NBA where teams wanted them but decided to stay home in Russia instead?"
You did not name anybody.
P.S... there have only been 10 Russians to ever play in the NBA. And only 3 of them have played more than 3 seasons.

Russia won the bronze at last Olympics over Australia, and a bunch of black guys but keep up your genetics argument. Again,we won bronze and give 0 fricks about basketball.

You don't understand Russian culture so just stop.

Europe has good basketball programs, but very few players have the athleticism to compete in the NBA. They are skilled players, but not athletic enough.
Countries like Nigeria have a lot of athletic people in their countries, but they don't have the basketball programs to excel.
Greek Freak got the best of both worlds, which is why he's in the NBA. He has great genetics and was developed in Europe.
Why do you think there are so many black American players? They have great genetics and there are great basketball programs in the U.S. They are athletic AND skilled.

I am a big fan of Nick Pappagiorgio from Yuma

Sound like a race argument to me you fricking idiot.

quote:No, it's not, as I've explained many times now. But race certainly does play a part in athletic ability. Otherwise, we'd be seeing Europeans dunking the ball just the same as Russell Westbrook and LeBron James. But they aren't athletic enough to do that.

That was a prime example of your idiocy. I'm done. frick you. Die in a fire you race baiting piece of shite and don't lecture me on my people.

Greece is already a big basketball country, so I don't think Giannis becoming a superstar will make the sport that much more popular over there.
I think Greece's heyday was from the 1980s to 2004 or so, before basketball got really huge in Spain (although there current post-Gasol/Navarro/Calderon generation is much worse than the current one) and especially France.
I think the countries that have the most potential in Europe are France, Spain, and the former Yugoslavian countries. Then Russia, Turkey, and Greece probably in that order. Greece is a small country with only about 10-11 million people and their basketball system seems very mature. On top of that, Olympiakos and Panathinakos are still great teams but routinely losing guys to Turkey and Spain since those leagues are wealthier.
Btw, their biggest star is former Gator Nick Calathes Zach Auguste and Tyler Dorsey also play for their NT.
The main Greek guy who I am familiar with is Kostas Sloukas. Really solid but he's a Euroleague starter and not much mroe.

Nope. You're lecturing me on Russian culture with no basis.
