To lose or tie the game? It is certainly very exciting.

To have a playoff game or Super Bowl come down to the end and someone scores at end of game to make it 21-20 and then miss the extra point is terrible.

Agreed. Kicker needs to make a meaningful kick to tie it up for OT rather than a gimme. More drama...

It's a great move. Just think Team X just drove the field and scored a touchdown with no time left, but need the extra point to send it to OT or miss it and lose. How in the blue hell is that not an exciting scenario?
Really? Way, WAY too much factors in to playing a successful football game to let a kicker decide the game on a long extra point. Late game field goals are different. Those field goals are rewards for pulling off a clutch drive. Kicking isn't exciting enough to let games be decided by extra points. I rather the NFL do away with extra points. This rule is horrible.

As a Falcons fan, I don't really have too much to worry about in terms of kickers choking in late game scenarios. Matty Ice 2.0 has been clutch in his kicks for us. I guess if your team has a revolving door of useless kickers, I could see why you hate the idea of an extra point being moved back to the 33, but I have no issues with it.

The idea of making extra points more important is maddening to me, I hate it.

I'm willing to bet you can't make a 20 yard field goal much less a 30+ attempt.

They've had this rule in the CFL all year. Makes the games way more exciting. More teams going for 2 as well.

Currently the kickers are hitting at about 75-80% on single point converts, while 2 point converts are going at 65-70%.

That is a very valid reason. A staggering percentage of concussions took place on kickoffs. It made kickoffs less exciting, but it is very good for the overall health of the game and the players.

To anyone opposed to the kickoff rule, why should extra points not be a formality? They can still go for two. This rule slightly incentives going for two, which is cool.

The same kind of argument that you are attempting to validate. You simply state that a 33 yard field goal is not exciting no other valid reasoning, you just don't think it's exciting. Real great rebuttal there. Meanwhile, I as well as many others beg to differ. There's much more at stake with the XP attempt being moved back. I am sorry that you are too much of a simpleton to see the excitement here.

Are you a huge fan of a CFL team?

If a team gets the ball down 3 with 20 seconds left, getting into field goal range is a reward for moving the ball. It's exciting to watch a team attempt to get in range while the other team tries to stop them.

If a team gets a turnover down 3 deep in enemy territory, it's exciting to see if they can take the lead. It's a reward for the defense to hold them out of the endzone, and a bit of a punishment for the offense if they have to kick a FG after having great field position. That shite is exciting. Blame for not converting that FG can also be given to the offense as a whole. It's a perfect relationship.

Simply missing a long extra point is stupid as hell and there isn't anything exiting about it. Arguing that a long extra point and a late game FG are the same is lazy as hell.

No you're argument is that because a kick is hard for me, that it is hard for a professional kicker.

On the pro level it's not exciting. There's a 93 plus success rate. That's not enough of a challenge for these kickers for me to think twice about whether they will make it.

In the small percentage that do miss it, half will walk away from the TV and then go "oh shite he missed it"

Yeah that's real exciting. Gamechanger there.

Yes, because I'm not at the edge of my seat at a play that is successful 93 percent of the time, I'm clearly a simpleton. What a master debater you are

If you like the extra point becoming more a part of the game, I would agree.

For me, I don't really want games decided on extra points. I don't like it.
