s of games?

Will probably see less games go to overtime.
If you miss one or two XP's a game, you may not have a chance of game tieing drives.

No, it will make extra points more important now. You may even start to see situations where a false start forces a team to consider going for two more frequently. Moving it back is probably the smartest thing they've done in recent history IMO.

I like my extra points as a formality, thank you very much.

You won't have a job as a kicker for long.

FGs from 33 yards are still hit at a 93% clip

Making extra points important is stupid as frick.

Who wants to watch a game end on a missed 33 yard field goal?

NFL moves back extra points bc the play is a given, yet has killed the kickoff as one of the most exciting plays in the game.

This. What was the problem with the gimme extra point? I don't know why they always have to mess with something that works pretty well just for the sake of changing things up.

Yup. Its that way in Rugby. Extra point is actually two extra points and the kick is taken parallel from where the Try(Touchdown) was scored.

I think you start to see teams go for 2 more often now. Teams made extra points 99.3% (1222 of 1230) of the time last year. Teams made 30-39 yard field goals 90.0% of the time last year. That's 1107 of 1230. Basically 100 more misses. And if the kick is blocked, it can be returned for 2 points.

NFL teams made 58 attempts at the two point conversion last year and made 28. While that's only 48%, it makes for interesting decisions because out of 100 tries, 90% of 1 point gets you 90 points and 48% of 2 points gets you 96 points.

I do.

I would have preferred getting rid of them altogether. The EP was a stupid invention in the first place.

I bet we will see a game lost because of a missed extra point (probably the goddamn saints). I like it like this though, sets up for more exciting endings, and we will see more teams go for 2 as well.

I agree with all this. There wasn't much of a challenge with PAT's from the 3. At least now it creates a little more suspense and it's not as much of a guarantee.

It'll really be interesting in November/December/January when cold weather/outdoor teams are kicking them from that distance in the wind.

It's a great move. Just think Team X just drove the field and scored a touchdown with no time left, but need the extra point to send it to OT or miss it and lose. How in the blue hell is that not an exciting scenario? I bet you in this type of scenario, the defense will actually finally try and block the extra point instead of everyone just standing straight up and watching the kick.

That's exciting. That should get more emphasis

Have you ever seen a 33 yard field goal? It's not exciting.

I'm willing to bet you can't make a 20 yard field goal much less a 30+ attempt.
