Will the Bama-Clemson rematch be a ratings flop?

With the Bama fatigue and all...

I think college football as a whole is done with the Saban dynasty and is ready to move on.

IDK, ESPN has been pumping it every 5 minutes in every broadcast imaginable.

What does it matter?... If you like CFB you'll watch.

I imagine it'll be on par with last season.

College football fans are intrigued:

1) Clemson blew out Ohio State. Are they on a roll?

2) Kiffin is gone. How will Bama's offense look?

3) Clemson put up 40 points in last year's game. This is a better Alabama defense though. Will they be able to shut down Clemson this year?

4) Deshaun Watson's swan song?

For the casual viewer, I would imagine Bama fatigue is having an effect but this is by no means an expected blowout.

Bam's seminfinal was a dud ratings-wise.

Lowest of the Top 4...

Rose
OSU-Clemson
Bama-UW

And despite people maybe excited to see UW back in the fold, the game didn't draw because of expectations. Bama is gonna win, yawn, who cares, CFB sucks now...etc.

The Natty will produce somewhat because there seems to be optimism that Clemson can win.

Regardless, Bama doesn't also draw because their style of play is boring, their coach is boring, they are boring.

At least the U and FSU and USC were interesting when they dominated. There is nothing interesting about Bama, nothing collegiate, no flair. It's like watching a sales seminar.

The ratings were disappointing last year because a lot of people expected Bama to blow Clemson out. That won't be the case this year.

The ratings won't be that much better from last year. You have 2 teams from the same region is the reason. If FSU played LSU for the natty the results would be the same. People out west and northeast just don't care like we do.
It's good to know that 70% of the folks watching want BAMA to lose though. Hate us cuz they can't be us.

I Hope they get beat, but I'm not emotionally invested to the point of spending my night watching the game.

That is really unfortunate, because this is only the beginning They're winning 8 of the next 10

I don't see this game being very close. A snoozer. Bama wins and most people are changing the channel by halftime

Remember when ESPN told us the Bama-LSU rematch would be the most watched game ever.

And it was the least watched Natty game ever.

Bama has always had a problem compared to other powers that people hate.

Nobody historically wants to watch them, even in the only place people ever really watch them...the South.

I don't know why that is, but it's history. Bama has never been TV friendly like Notre Dame, USC, Michigan, OSU, Texas, Oklahoma. Bama is in their bubble.

I think people are more familiar with Clemson this year and are looking forward to a similar but different outcome than last year.

People in the South will watch regardless of whether they are represented. It is the other regions that need to be appealed to

Southern football is still somewhat regional.

They did a show on CNN going to a sports bar in Wyoming and interviewed dudes watching a college football game and showed them the Georgia football helmet and they had no idea what school it was. Half said Grambling.

You couldn't be more wrong. Here's the top 10 rated games last year. LINK 3 involved Bama. No one else had more. It's the same result or better every year, in fact that was the first time in years Bama wasn't #1. In 2012 or 2013, Bama was 3 of the top 5.

Eta: here's 2013. Bama was the #1 rated team in the entire country LINK by a huge gap, 1.2 million more viewers per game than the #2 team

I can go on if you would like
