Will Jameis Winston be a successful NFL QB?

I think he has a better shot at it than a player like RGIII or Manziel. Those guys who are all about the scramble and the read option always end up getting hurt in the NFL. (case in point, probably the GOAT read option guy Mike Vick is mediocre in the NFL because of injuries). I could see Jameis being a more traditional pocket passer with the size and build to be a running threat as well. Maybe Cam Newton-esque.

Obviously, he is a complete crazy person, but then again he does seem coachable unlike Manziel. I think if he can mature a little bit mentally, he could be a quality NFL QB. He's never going to be an Andrew Luck, but I could see him being a Donovan McNabb, Ben Roethesbuger kind of capable, perpetual playoff threat journeyman type.

I see him being another Cam. Nothing spectacular, but gets the job done. Could be another RGIII if TB's OL has any say.

He could certainly be like Andrew Luck. All he has to do is throw 17+ interceptions a season, talk like he has peanut butter in his mouth, and display a great attitude.

That could easily be his downfall. His Wonderlic is respectable, but at the end of the day stupid is as stupid does. And there are plenty of guys with the football ability who derailed their careers by being stupid off the field.

Just get him a lifetime membership at Joe's crab shack and he should be fine.

Winston won't be anything until they get an offensive line.

Seems like he's been a model citizen since he's come to Tampa.

Boom.

I've seen some interesting cases made between him and Tannahill. I'd still take Luck, but he has to start making better decisions out there, especially with all of the offensive weapons he has.

Define the bare minimum of "successful".

No. He will be a bust in 3 years.

It is actually alarming how few elite QBs there are and how risky it is taking a QB early unless he is Luck.

Once he learns not to throw into triple coverage, he'll be OK.

If he had been drafted by any NFL team not named Jacksonville, Cleveland, or Tampa Bay he most definitely would have been a good NFL QB.

But since he was drafted by TB. I'd say he has a 50/50 chance. TB's O-Line may be the worst in the history of the NFL. And no that is not an exaggeration.

No way they are worse than the first few seasons of Texans' Olines. Carr got sacked and hit more times in 3 years than any QB in hostory

He won't be half the QB Luck is

Luck is damn near in the elite category with Brady/Rodgers/Brees/Manning.

I say Winston will be a solid QB, but never at that elite category, where Luck will no question be, likely after this season. Luck gets unnecessary hate, he is incredible.

Luck doesn't get any hate. I think everyone recognizes him as right outside that top 5 QB category. It's just time for him to take that next step and make a strong run at a Super Bowl, which I expect him to do this season.

He won't be a bust.

Not sure how good he'll be but this isn't a Manziel situation. You're an idiot if you think that.

Tannehill threw 12 int to Luck's 16

but only 27 TD to Luck's 40.

I think this is probably correct. The scary thing is his next step will be total annihilation of the game of football.
